I have a chance to buy this 2009 Cameo 5th wheel noted above. It has been immaculately maintained. Any brand or year issues I should be aware of? I’ve heard great reviews so far.
Thanks I’m advance for feedback

We had two Carriage Cameos and generally well built. A common problem with the units was the gear drive for the slides. We had two friends with the 37RE3 that both had the drives on the big kitchen and bedroom slide break. It can be repaired.

Make sure that the slides all operate smoothly and minimal noise. If they are not smooth and make noise, they are headed for problems. If this is a private individual, you might see it they had any repair work done on the slide drives.

Also, check the slide wipere seals as well as the bulb seals. If they are weathered and cracked, you will need to look at replacing them.

And as noted, the current Cameo by Crossroads is nowhere near the quality of the original Cameo trailer. The original Cameo units had a stacked rectangular tube frame and not the thin channel frames on the current units.

Lifestyle (Evergreen) built a trailer with very near the same construction.

Well built trailers with good bones and in-house made frame. They still suffer the same component maladies of all manufacturers. No top flange on the slides which is a potential leak point. Check this out and suggest slide toppers. You might find some slide components are hard or impossible to find. Carrier air conditioners no longer made. My Hehr windows have had some issues but have cost no money to fix.

If you have the white leather option, the components will start peeling. Odds are that problem has been taken care of by now.

All of the above applies to my 2008 Carriage product (not a Cameo). I've fixed a lot of stuff in the 6 years I have owned it but I kind of figure that to be universal. The basic platform and cabinetry are rock solid. The unit still shines up like a new penny and gets a lot of compliments. If the Cameo was made today it would be a high end trailer. I bought my trailer right, and, for an orphan, it has held its value real well.

Good luck.

The Cameo is still produced today under the Crossroads name.. which is now Keystone.. IT IS NOT the Cameo of the past.. That era you re looking at is the good one....
