I would recommend it.
When I picked up a new rig (in sig) in '97 it came with a new 16K Reese manual slider.
Got it home and it would not slide without dumping the clutch on the Dodge/ Cummins/NV5600 tranny.
The first time it slammed so hard the glove compartment door dropped open.
I completely dis assembled all the hitch from top to bottom and cleaned everything.
The hitch head/jaws I used a bit of red grease in the pins and any pivot point.
I used red grease on the slider pins in the rollers and sprayed the siding parts with white lithium spray.
After a couple of months the lithium grease attracted too much dirt/grit/sand/etc and made a big mess so I cleaned the lithium grease off. I now use a HD silicone spray 3-4 times a year. I can flip the lever to maneuver position and if the rig is sitting on a small amount of slope the trailer rolls back..... at any angle.

I have the same problem with mine. The problem that I have with this hitch is in the slider it self the locking handle moves back and forth along with the slider moving up and down slightly on the rails when you start and stop

I also have the same hitch. As they said pay attention to that spring. Also, the slide rollers. Made a trip a few years back to walt disney world went to use the slide it would not move. Had to lift camper weight off truck some hold trailer brake and give the truck some throttle. And Bang!!! One hell of a noise but it moved. Thank god. Very frustrating after driving 1100 miles and not being able to get in my site. All worked out but sure did learn a lesson the hard way. Now i grease them every time. No problems since.
Just out of curiosity does your slide make a hell of a racket when you take off and stop. Mine does and drives me crazy. I was told that is just the way it is. I don't know seems to me that reese being the company they are would have something to solve this.

I have the Reese manual slider as well. Prior to use and then monthly thereafter, you need to spray white lithium grease on the underside of the leaf spring in each side assembly. I put grease on the roller pins and the top of the rails as well.

I no longer use my Reese slider, but I would use white Lithium spray grease on the rollers (surface and shaft tips). Also, a long spray tip is needed to put grease on the internal spring bar. Here is a link that shows how to grease the spring bar.Reese manual slider
