Aalert for Illinois 5th Wheel owners

I'm required to have a Class A driver's license because my GCW is over 11,000kg (24200lbs for those on the old system).

Same medical exam, written test, driving test as full commercial except that I took it with my RV.

Coming to a jurisdiction near you...

CA has similar requirements. Any FW operator is to fill out a medical questioner with the DMV. Any triple axle trailer requires a minimum non commercial class A. Any trailer 10,001 lbs. or over requires a minimum non commercial class A. I have heard horror stories of TH coming out of the Oceano Dunes and getting hit with huge fines. In talking to our local DOT officer what struck me odd was that there is no requirement on the TV. I had a triple axle Raptor TH at the time and he told me I could legally tow it with a toyota if I so desired:?

The law is Gay AF. I can drive right over from missouri without any of those requirements and they have to honor my states laws. It's a cash cow. Also he would have to weigh the vehicle to prove its over.

Not yet...it will take a while for the reciprocity laws to come to be. That is why I will keep my other states CCW license along with IL when I can get it.

But under the new law, IL won't honor any other state's permits. Maybe after they see that the sky doesn't fall. Anyway....

I'll just stick to my 4200LB OFF-ROAD POPUP setup. I can still drive thru McDonalds and order a BIG MAC as well hehe...

Gas mileage is also great - My 2010 F150 doesn't know the POPUP is back there...

Just some of the quirks of not going super big...

Everyone always wants the biggest and best things they can get their hands on. Going super big was not for me... Got to have deep pockets for sure...
