Any Problems with your 6.7L diesel on Ford F350 ?????

Have 2004 Ford F350 6.0L that has been a nightmare. Getting ready to get a 2015 F350 then saw that the 6.7 has had a lot of troubles. After my 6.0L troubles should I be leary. Want to hear from those with 2012-2015 F250/350s if you have had any problems. Thank you. Bob

Thank you for all your input. Got a better deal on a 2015 3500 Ram than I could make on the F350 so that's what I did. Glad to see how many were so pleased with their Fords. Not enough space here to list all the problems I had with my 6.0

I'm very sorry to hear of your trouble. So to clarify, was it the pump that supplies the HPFP that failed? If so, it could have been that it was just a faulty pump and you are now good to go. I would be somewhat concerned about the HPFP being starved of fuel (and subsequent lubrication) and what damage may have been done to it as a result of this. Can anyone more in the know expand on this?

That is correct. The low pressure pump that supplies the HPFP simply stopped doing its job correctly. I have the same concern re the HPFP being starved and any potential damage. Dealer wasn't concerned but I know their hands are tied.

I didn't expand on how ridiculous the second dealer was but I'll certainly never visit them again. They are not Ford corporate so I can't fault Ford but I did register a complaint with the local advocate and am working to be reimbursed for charges that I incurred due to their diagnosis and method of diagnosis.

I will post my $0.02 worth. First, Ford spent Millions on Warrenty for their IH diesel engines, so they had to put a break on it. Their new Disel is a good engine, BUT and I do not know if this is Ford or Bosch, but the fuel pump will not tolerate any water. I have heard that Ford will automatically cancel warrenty's if water is over 2% in the fuel. The problem, in the US up to 6% water is allowed in diesel fuel. In Europe it is much lower. Perhaps, Bosch did a redesign, or Ford added more water separation capability, the newer engines seem to have far fewer problems.

Some of us can count straight to 6!

But most of us can count higher. 🙂

But you have to count smaller items to reach the same 6.7! :B

They've gone back to buying Ford diesels again at work in our 450's and 550's. Of course I got the V10. :M

The probability of HPFP failure is low (according the www rumor mill) but it is a concern that may have swayed my decision to purchase a Ford had I been aware of the issue and more importantly Ford's stance on the repair. Prior to my first "break down" I had no concern.

First limp home, Dealer #1: "we need to test the fuel" as soon as they pulled codes and found the low fuel pressure code.. This is when I learned of the HPFP warranty denial mess. I couldn't figure out why they wanted to test the fuel.

Second limp home, Dealer #2: "you have contaminated fuel, there's gasoline in your tank. Your repairs will be roughly $12k and Ford will not cover it under warranty" truck was towed to Dealer #1 where they rebuffed the "gas in fuel tank phooey" and said "we can't find an issue to repair and we didn't find anything but diesel in your tank".

Third limp home, Dealer #1: failure of the LPFP repaired under warranty. No questions asked as I would expect.

I hope this is history and I never have another issue with my fuel system. The stress of this experience was ridiculous. My next truck will not be a Ford if the HPFP issue persists. If they fix the issue and step up to the plate to take care of their customers I will absolutely buy another Ford (if it pulls and drives as well as this one and I don't get burned by this one). It really is a shame they are playing this game because it's a great truck.

The fact that Ford jumped right onto testing fuel points to the fact that they are still quite happy to deny warranty claims on this issue. It is also concerning that a dealer can say your fuel is contaminated (when in fact yours wasn't and I suspect many others weren't as well), document this to Ford and then have your warranty denied. Thankfully your first dealer did not simply take the other dealer's word and did their own investigation and repair work to resolve the issue.

I truly hope that your issue is resolved and you have many trouble free miles ahead in your truck. It still feels funny to me at times not to be driving a blue oval after 20 years of them!

IMO this is the best truck on the market today. And the best is "Made in the USA".

Where does the MEXICAN MADE PowerStroke fall into the "Made in USA" part?

Yes my truck is "assembled" in Mexico with MOSTLY US Made parts including the CUMMINS engine.

Just like to have truth in advertising here. :B

Yes cummins in light of full disclosure your cummins with the Mexican sourced casted engine block, along with your foreign brand truck.

This is how it's done my friend.... :W
