Bottom Ladder attachment loose

Bottom anchor on Ladder on Sunnybrook Fiver has come loose. Looks like attachment inside has rusted. Rusted bolts protrudes from anchor fixture attached to back of trailer. How do I repair without replacing the ladder?
  • Absolutely repair the stand off if possible. I had the same issue and chose to remove the ladder thinking I'd use my extend-a-step ladder when needed. Big mistake!!! The extend-a-step although very functional is a PITA to have to get out for use so I ended up replacing my ladder with a 'universal' fit. It's OK now however the area's where the original standoff's where will always be a different color white.

I believe that is the company that I linked to in my previous post. They have changed their name from what it was several years ago.

  • I replaced all the ladder standoffs on my trailer because the bolts were getting rusty and the ladder was starting to loosen. It has been several years since doing it but think I got them from this place. I ordered the white ones. You can also order individual part for the ladder. I think you will find the "star nuts" you were looking for here.

I also used these brackets for the bottom of the ladder where it mounts to the trailer. I put new butyl tape under each bracket so no water could penetrate. Those brackets are much sturdier than the original mount.

  • I wouldn't think replacement would be necessary. Don't quite understand the situation but rusted bolts can be cut off and possible pushed into the frame to get them out of the way. Some kind of epoxy (wood epox) for example can be used to build up the deteriorated material, holes drilled for new screws.
My ladder is held in place with four screws in each of several flanges.
A picture would help show is the problem.
