Clearance with Trailair pinbox

Installed a Trailair pinbox over the weekend. Seems to have raised the nose of the 5'ver about 2". Hard to say because the driveway isn't level. But it is higher. I can adjust the hitch down 1", but am concerned about how much movement I will see from the Trailair pinbox at low speed. Next trip in 2 weeks, may wait till after that to adjust.

I have a Trail air tri glide. I don't think you will have any issues. I adjust my air so the jaw is in the middle of the stroke of the lower jaw.

Not sure what you mean? " jaw is in the middle of the stroke of the lower jaw"

    I also have the TriGlide.

While your trailer is unhitched the air ride jaw will be fully extended. Paint a white reference line on the side.
Now while the trailer is sitting on your truck deflate the airbag and the jaw will be fully retracted. Paint another reference line. Next make a line in the center of your two reference marks and the will be the middle of travel . I inflate the air bag until I see the center line. At a glance you know if you need air or not.

  • Thanks, good to know that it's not going to nose down every time I stop. After I see it on level ground I'll know alot more. Sure would like to lower the hitch head and get closer to level.
