Clearbra the front cap?

I'm tired of having to scrub the front of the 5er after every trip in an attempt to get the bugs off. Even with a fresh coat of wax, it's a lot of elbow grease to get the job done.

Has anyone put a clear bra on the front of their 5er? I have one on the front of my car to avoid rock chips & it makes bug removal very easy. Wouldn't the same principal apply to the front cap of the 5er?
  • I've wondered about Plasti Dip and the decals coming off too! Otherwise seems like a good solution to me.
  • I have used the Bounce Dryer shts and they worked so so, nothing spectacular.

    hmmm... clear plasti dip ?!?

wonder if it would pull off decals if you remove it ?!?

and NOT moving to desert - it's hot enough here in DFW!

    But it's a DRY heat! :)

Sorry the smart @ss in me just couldn't resist!

  • ONE POSSIBLE CHOICE IS CLEAR PLASTI DIP SPRAY ON AND CAN BE PULLED OFF. still new to the plasti dip only have done some offroad bead lock rims in black and worked great, baja bug bodys soon.
  • BM.... not a bad idea... am researching it myself after killing 1.7 gazilion love bugs on my last outing :

since most auto shops stock bulk clear wrap and cut it to fit...
I'm sure they could quote a one time price...

I did the front cap, head, and fog lites on the Audi - nary a scratch on it years later when we sold it BUT the film was yellowing a bit...

either do it as soon as you can or detail it very well before having it installed (and this is NOT a DIY project IMHO !)

still on the fence and may just get my detail guys to do a good wax on the front for now...
  • Instead of using "elbow grease", why not just use a damp dryer sheet(like Bounce)? Takes bugs right off without effort. You'r welcome
