Crossover between fifth wheel and toy hauler

Masonplace the Titanium has a rear cap that lifts up on struts and turns into the roof, behind this is a full glass aluminium patio sliding door which makes the interior light and airy there was 2 revolving recliner chairs. The floor slides out from under floor on to jack stands with wheels, then you can attach the screen area with zips to roof and velcro to floor and FW. A great setup ours was a 31E26DS and loved it.

My current rig is a Sierra 360 PDEK. It's been a great unit. The rear door opens to become a deck with handrails and a set of steps. The rear sliding glass door let's in a ton of light and fresh air. A benefit is the high roof line front to rear making the living room feel larger. We did take out one of the recliners as it was a pain going in and out of the door with the chair in the way.

You have to be choosey picking sites as the door adds another 8' when opened making the rig 50' in total. With door closed it is a little dark inside.

We LOVED the layout and look of the Forest River Sierra 360PDEK

Added bonus was the outdoor kitchen. Not such a bonus was the dry and cargo weights.. Otherwise, would have been a top contender for us.

As newman fulltimer said Forest River is doing the toy-free, non-ramp back porch on the Sandpiper 360PDEK and also the Sierra line.

What differentiates these from traditional toy haulers is:

- no toy means there is no separate garage taking up normal living area.
- the rear glass door can be more conventional, insulated, air and bug tight
- suspension and balance can be more accurately designed without the toys
- your rig does not have to have the obnoxious toy hauler name and graphics (Just Kidding! :) )

On the downside, depending on the places you go, there may not be room for 41' of RV, 8' of deck, and 4' of steps. Also, I have heard of some issues in parks where everyone is lined up close to an ocean front and they do not allow extended rear decks which limit the view of your neighbors.

You could =make= a door insert that would mount just inside the ramp if you didn't find one that you liked. I've seen any number of newer model THs that have the rear-deck option, to the point that they have an attached awning and the sliding doors you're looking for. They also have rails around the ramp/deck. I've heard that the side-patio setups are actually fairly cramped and don't give you as much room as you think.

On edit: After a quick search, Heartland makes one with BOTH a rear patio =and= a side patio! Pretty neat. I did also see some other side-patios that looked a bit more spacious than what some people here have recently posted.

I know my model was never offered with the bug room, but if you go over to www.titaniumrvowners.com and register, I'm sure several owners will tell you more about them and, possibly, where used bug room models may be for sale.

That sure sounds like what I saw except it had the patio doors instead of canvas and screen walls.

My wife and I are planning to go full time (or close to it), so we are looking at big fifth wheels (Montana, Cedar Creek etc...). Once the youngest is in college (2017), we will downsize the house, move to Green Bay and then travel south for the winters.
What I envision is the toy hauler space is actually rear living and then with back garage door that folds down into a deck.
I know I give up that rear wall for a couch, but this could add an extra three season type set up.
I know it sounds goofy, but I swear I saw one on eBay a few weeks ago. At the time though, I didn't get the name. It had a sliding type of door out to the deck.
