- Traveler_IIExplorerFollowing the Mississippi River north to LaCrosse is a great trip. Fort McCoy is on the west side of Wisconsin and Milwaukee is on the east side.
- sdianel_-acct_cExplorerUS61 north from Baton Rouge. To get around St Louis, take US60 west at Sikeston MO to US63 north. I would check construction in each state.
- Coach-manExplorerFollow US 27 north, that should take you to Chicago, from there you are on your own! Lol
- GoPackGoExplorerI second the idea of using Hwy 61. Follow the Mississippi !
I used to live on the Mississippi and have done some traveling on the highways that border it (Iowa and Illinois). It's a beautiful ride, especially the stretch above Dubuque, Iowa (on either side of the river).
Tim - Roger10378Explorer IIIt is a long way from Milwaukee to Ft. McCoy. I do like taking US 98 and US49 thru Mississippi. You angle from the SE to NW. Mostly rural with small towns. You will probably want to take I 20 for a few miles at Jackson then back on 49. Then follow the river north.

Thanks. Looks like the route we will go. How about 98 to 90 to Baton Rouge? What kind of road is 90?
