Is there a "how to " video for SuperGlide?

I am looking for the correct way. To take apart and lubricate SuperGlide. I have my owners manual. I am a visual person. Seeing it done would be so much easier. I do not want to anything wrong.

I spray the hitch down every time I use it. With graphite spray. It is starting to hang up a bit.

I just sprayed WD-40 on the parts that were hanging up. It seems to slide much better. I will let you know in a few weeks.

I do believe that is the way it should be. It should be a little on the tight side. But you should be able to force it into center position by hand. There are a couple of reasons.

1) The adjustable block is there to hold the carrier arm in place when NOT hitched. Otherwise it will clang around, moving back and forth when you drive around in NON-towing situations.

2) The adjustable block will keep some pressure on the carrier arm when towing. So when you come to a stop it holds the hitch with a little back pressure. So when you start off from a stop, the hitch does not suddenly move backward (with a CLANG) from any looseness.

For more/better detailed information consult your owners manual.

If you want, you can try loosening the stop bolt a tiny bit and try it. No more than one turn though. Be sure to apple the lock nut.

I think there is an adjustable block to take out the slack in center position.
Maybe yours is set too tight. Look on the front of the hitch.

Try operating the slide mechanism manually. Grab that release handle and pull it to turn the hitch. It should start sliding to the rear. The more you turn it, the more it moves rearward. If it is hanging up, you be able to feel and see it.

Before I originally answered your post , I searched YouTube and saw several videos on the hitch,,, most were install videos , but they will give you sense of what is going on.... When I have time later tonight , I will get back on and do some searching... I do know that I searched pullrite superglide...like stated before. If it's hanging up on the way tubes , it may be a capture plate issue??? Maybe you can take a video and we can see???

I searched SuperGlide. Could not find anything. I think I will call Pullrite and talk to them. Thanks for all the input everyone!

Here is an idea. www.youtube then search "Pullrite". I don't know of a dis-assembly video. But maybe you can find one, on your own.

Just be careful on you tube. Lots of people showing SuperGlide hitch failures. But they are NOT hitch failures. They are operator error. IE: no capture plate, not hitching correctly, and other real stupid stuff that unknowing people do. But it can't be their fault. So it must be the hitches fault.

If it wasn't sliding away from the truck while turning, you might have a capture plate problem. Could be other problems too. But the reason should be very obvious, without taking anything apart. Fixing it, on the other hand, could require dis-assembly.

Yes, I wanted to watch a video. I am just afraid to take things apart unless I know what I am doing. The hitch was installed in 2010. I am a daughter of a mechanic. I just love to get my hands dirty ๐Ÿ™‚

I think it is hanging up on the way tubes. It wasn't pulling away from the truck while turning like it should have.

Do you see what WE are doing; AGAIN. OP asked for a video, as he is a visual learner.
All the nice responders TELL him how to do what he needs to SEE.

Nobody addresses the question; Is there a video? I don't know/I couldn't find one, sorry

What is hanging up? Is it the sliding mechanism? Or is it the hitch jaws that are hanging up. If the jaws, you would be wise to remove the head. Turn it over and make sure all the parts pivot freely. And all the escapement palls engage smoothly. And while you are at it, clean all the gunk out of it, and re-lube.

Pretty simple really. Not needing to take anything apart. Just cleaning and lubing.

Yes please check age of your hitch. They started with white grease, then slip plate and now WD40. Make sure you know which hitch you have to prevent locking up and destroying the hitch.

Pullrite has changed the superglide several times over the years. The past several years use WD40 on rail tops and inside edges, and inside gap between plastic wear plates. Not sure about latch or slide tracks.

Older superglides used slip plate spray on on rails. Not sure what was used in the models before slip plate.

I called the customer service department at Pullrite and they said just use WD-40 each time as SJTURBO also stated.

One must be careful in doing this.... The older version ( mine is from 08) uses a dry lube such as Slip Plate..... The whole hitch comes apart in pieces and is very easy to re-do.... The step by step instructions like stated by kennethwooster is pretty close to getting you all the way,...
