Michelin XPS RIBS Tires

Dexter says 1" minimum between the tires and most equipment trailer dealers/mfg I've delt with says around 2 3/4" at the top on a std leaf spring trailer.

You will get years of service from the Ribs. Many haulers claim 60k-70k miles even at max loads with them.

I would say you’ll be OK, I only have about that on mine and it’s never caused me ny issues.

If you got a heavy FW a lot of tire are not heavy to handle the load.XPS ,Duravis are all 3042 lb tire they are good for 6000 lb axle.

I got 9 years out of my XPS RIBS on my 5ver that weighed about 12.5K...I'd have to look up the total mileage we put on them. My only issue is why they only make them in the "E" rating....my new trailer takes "G" rated tires - which means when I replace the OEM tires I can't buy another set of XPS RIBS.....

Sidewall to sidewall there is a big difference in thickness from the R500s to the T/a's and while pulling the 5er seems much less prone to ride the ruts.

Seeing as I have a 2500 mile trip coming up later this week I though it was wise to invest in a new set of tires beforehand....

The R500HD is a commercial rated poly carcass LRE, and probably the best poly carcass tire on the market with a 2 ply sidewall vs 1 ply for others. I put a set on my 2001.5 RAM a couple years before I sold it. I would say they will most likely go 100K+ miles.

for anybody looking for a solid tire choice on slightly lighter rigs (10k lbs or so) I just put on a set of LT215/85R16E Bridgestone Duravis R500HD tires on my unit to replace the BFG Commercial T/A's that after 4 years from the datecode developed tread separation.

^^^^ What he said. I ran Ribs for 7 years and around 40K miles and then R250s for 4 years before selling the trailer. Both are great, I liked the R250 slightly better, and the price was cheaper.

BTW I sold the used Ribs for 200 bucks on Craigs List with 60-65 percent of the tread left.

They both held air pressure like no other tires I have ever owned.

Funny you should mention the R250s. That's what I have now and like you I think they are a better tire and cheaper. Either one is great.
