On my Raptor 3612 the generator compartment is designed probably like every other one out there. Over the weekend we were running the genny almost non-stop. On Friday night I was checking a few things and noticed the generator compartment door was very hot to the point where you almost could not touch it. When I opened the door I found that the inside liner had deformed from the heat and on the lower right hand corner of the generator there is a horseshoe shaped opening. Super hot air was blasting out of that opening onto the inside of the compartment door. Has anyone else experienced this? Is that hole on the right lower supposed to be blocked off? or is it part of the generator cooling system?Edited Images to fit the page.

Why is the genny sitting on foam?I would be concerned about that.That foam will hold heat.

It is not. It looks that way from the pic. The foam is the seal between the generator enclosure built into the compartment and the compartment door.

You may want to google the installation manual for your genny.
It gives instructions and pix of air flow and how a genny should be installed.
I don't think yours is correct.

Lincster is right. Check installation manual. It gives specific dimensions/locations of holes that need to be cut in floor where genny mounts for proper air flow. No heat should be blowing out anywhere inside the genny compartment. All cooling air flow, intake air and exhaust air is underneath the genny to the outside of rv.

Hard to see clearly, but from your pics, looks like genny cover is not on correctly and rubber gasket is not in place. If cover is not on correctly air cooling flow will not work right.

The device on the outside bottom looks like someone has added to help reduce noise from the air hitting the ground.

That hole that has air coming into the compartment might need to be blocked but without the install manual I can't tell.

I agree that the cover looks like it might not be on tight.

The black cover which is most important is tight and sealed well. The gasket on the bottom which you guys may be referring to is for the compartment door which came unglued from the heat over the weekend.
I believe I have the install manual and will check that later today. Thanks for all the great responses. N
