That was exactly my first thought.

Yea, I thought it was a cool little machine. I would have placed the gauges differently. The tach was far right almost in front of the passenger.

Manufactured by an American company in China
Parts are difficult to acquire
The 812cc is under powered, this one is 1100cc
Poorly assembled but the design is adequate
Not many upgrades or accessories available

Is this thing worth a look for $8K?
Are they junk?

I own a reliable 10 year old Joyner that is also on-road licensed, so don't let people tell you all Chinese products are garbage throwaway vehicles. I bet there are plenty of parts made in China that go into the US assembled SxS which commands 2-3x the price. Just take a look at the aftermarket on more well known toys and you will see they also do not have best cages, suspensions or welds from the OEM...

The biggest downfall of any low volume selling unit is a smaller dealer and parts support network. If you are not willing to order parts online and work on it yourself, you are better off with a high volume product that has more hand holding and customer support. If you don't travel outside the area of one of the dealers, this might be a moot point - My Joyner has been on streets and trails between Canada and Mexico (BC to SoCal) and the Pacific Ocean and Mississippi River (WA to WI).

The 800cc 3-cylinder DOHC Chery engine in is reliable but not powerful. Upgrading to the 1100cc is just another cylinder added to the block and uses the same piston and valve size. They can be reliably turbo'ed and still get long life out of them. The parts come China and the vehicles are assembled in NM.

This car is not the fastest nor does it have the best suspension for high speed off-road. What it does have is on-road licensing rather than the restricted use of a SxS.

I've been looking at these for a while and trying to decide if I pick one up or if I buy a Mahindra Roxor and meld an old Jeep into it get on-road licensing. My old VW buggy (which is street licensed) would probably be sold if either option comes through.

I like the concept and it looks great. Might be fine for minor wheeling, etc. but anything serious or high speed and I think it won't last.
