Port Aransas Texas...where to stay?

Taking a little r&r and headed to Port Aransas this weekend for a few days before heading to Kansas City for Thanksgiving.

Any RV park recommendations?

Don't need much entertainment other than the beach and maybe a heated pool if ocean water is cool-just for a quick family get-away.

Got a 43' fifth-wheel.
  • Winter Texans fill up the spaces for the winter. However, there are a lot of CG between Rockport and Corpus Cristi that are near the beaches. You may get lucky.
  • Our choice would be Gulf Waters RV. It's right down from Pioneer RV. Close to Port A and CC and all the sites are privately owned with landscaping and concrete streets and sites. It's the nicest park I have ever stayed in over 12 years. Boardwalk to the beach and wide enough for your golf cart. Pioneer is popular and we have stayed there in the past but it's seams to more of a RV beach party place and not near as nice as Gulf Waters IMO.
  • In Port A there are several parks. On the Cut-Off road (goes around the town to the ferry) is Island RV Resort, Tropic Island Resort RV and Hotel. About 4 miles from town is Pioneer RV Park. Check Google Maps it shows most of the available parks.
  • Try Pioneer. Also there are many parks in Aransas Pass and it is only a short drive to Port-A.

We stayed at the On the Beach RV Park this summer. The location was great, just a quick walk down to the beach, restaurants and shopping was just a short drive. There was no pool and fitting my 36" Class A was fairly tight, they really squeeze them in tight and the driveways were narrow. We had a beach view from our front window that I enjoyed. There are some other parks there, but I did not really check them out. JH

Thanks, that's great news but it sounds as if we may be a little large with truck and trailer...that's no fun. We were actually considering that park.

  • I called a bunch of places around there last year about this time and couldn't find an opening. I would just start calling around. You may have to take whatever you can get this late in the year, if you can find anything at all. I ending up going to the Hill Country again and it was a good experience. Good luck.
