Questions for Those Pulling 43ft TH with DRW Truck

Our rig weighs just under GVWR: 19000lbs. Truck handles it very well.

Where I live, I had to upgrade my driver's license to a Class A because the GCW is over the max allowed for an operator's license. Same physical, written and driving tests as the 18-wheelers take (driving test with RV however).

Yes, I know in many places you don't have to have a REAL license :) but in some places you DO!

One of the things I did was add the fuel /tool tank to make life easier.Can carry an extra 55 gal so I don't have to stop to fuel up,while double towing.Makes camping so much easier,just have to worry about where I'm gonna camp,not where can I pull in a 65 ft rig to fuel up.Almost all of my camping is "off grid" so finding a spot just takes a little patience,however my once a year trip to Bolsa-Chica in CA can get quite pinchy if your neighbors won't move their vehicles while you bend a few rims backing in.Slow and steady keeps it fun!

1. Tow our 43.5' Recon with our 2008 F-450 and it tows it great, doesn't like to pass up fuel stations but I didn't buy it for fuel economy.
2. I'd rather tow a fiver vs. a tow behind but that's just me.
3. Take your time, better to get to your destination in one piece and make large turns, I hate going over curbs.

You will suck fuel like no tomorrow, but it will handle very well. I tend to fuel at RV pumps, or after dropping the trailer at a CG. Call ahead (I usually go one day in advance) and make a reservation for your size.

42 foot, 3950 Cyclone , at least 16,500, F-450 DRW, CC, 4X4. No probs.....but I only run 60 mph and keep my distance. That's key. Have fun:))

I have a 2006 Adrenaline 400DS (42 ft) and pull it with a 2006 F350 dually (started with a 1998 Chevy dually 454 gas - yikes!)

No real problems after I learned about tail swing courtesy of a gas station bollard and tail drag courtesy of a steep driveway.

I'm cautious about gas stations and all and careful about my site selection (just got back from a trip to "the mudhole" in Priest River, ID that was tight!

I pull a 3950 Cyclone with (initially a 2009 Chevy DRW) now have a 2013 GMC Denali DRW. The GMC beats the Chevy. Neither had any real problem, and we use state parks in the Midwest with no problem, just have to be careful about site selection.

17,000lb, 41' 5er. 2012 F350 DRW, no problems at all.

I've been thinking the same thing. I don't think I could stand going back to anything less than 40'.

But I've never been turned down because we were too long. State Parks or private campgrounds.
