I am very close to the purchase of a 2018 Arctic Fox 29-5L. The dealership and I are very close to a final agreement and we agreed to continue tomorrow, after I visit the bank for funding.I would appreciate a recommendation on the slide out toppers. They are for the wardrobe slide and living room slide. Please recommend a quality topper. I have had Dometic - and hated it, so that brand is out.Also, since the trailer weight is around 9,600 pounds, I want a good 5er hitch into the deal. Congratulations on your pending trailer. You have nice new gear, I would consider protecting both your truck and trailer with an air ride hitch. Trailer Saver BD3 will work perfectly with your MorRyde pin box. Comfortable tow alone is worth the extra expense over a solid mount B&W.

I installed toppers on my trailer, Dometic I think, and I like them. They pool water somewhat, so what, the water rolls off when you bring in the slide. You live in the NW, blowing off or sweeping wet fir needles doesn't work too well. Toppers eliminate a time consuming step during tear down. I have no desire to get on top of a 13 ft high wet fifth wheel in the rain or carry a ladder sufficient to reach a high bedroom slide.

I bought an extendable 10 foot ladder and an electric blower. I blow of the slide tops when breaking down. Bought the B&W Companion slider and love it. You can easily see the jaws to determine if your correctly hitched. Etrailer.com has them with free shipping.

I had them on my Cardinal and they were the first to show wear, my Montana is without them and all is good!

I got them to throw in the two s/o covers for $400. It was a bad deal.
The slide toppers that AF factory install are terrible junk and I told Mr. Nash so. The material is so thin the sun comes through it. Also the "Tubes" are under sized and bend when the slide is out. When it rains, the material stretches and forms pools of water. Then when you roll them up the material is all stretched out and doesn't wind up right. I have to stuff long pieces of styrofoam under them to keep them from doing this other wise then end up all wrinkled and want to tear.
The S/O covers they use are not even available to the general public - you cannot buy them of get parts for them.
The covers they buy are from Carefree but are a model well below their cheapest model that you could buy. They are a model that is built just for manufacturers to install.

I strongly recommend that you get the trailer without them and then buy them yourself after purchase. Because even the cheapest Carefree awnings are a huge step up from these.

BTW, I had them on the last TT and would not have a trailer without them ever again.

Forget the slide topper had them once that was enough for me!!!

Anything B&W you will thank all of us that recommend one. Simple solid no question if your hitched or not. Easy hitching and unhitching at angles and different planes. Lifetime guarantee AND 100% Made In USA!!!

Agreed, owned a Curt and hated it, B&W is the way to go. Slide out toppers, going on four years with our Dowmtic and no issues

On the slide topper, none are perfect, I have had three, two Dometics and the Carefree that came on the our 27-5L. The Carefree is the worst of the three. They all pool water, but the Carefree is the worst at flapping in small winds. I brought the issue up when new and on warranty, was told there is no adjustment that could be made.

The two best hitches I have had is a Pullrite Superglide (when I had a shortbox) and the B&W Companion I have now. Made in American and a simple hitch to use.

Thanks for catching my type. It is in fact a 27 5L.

I had Dometic on my 07 Holiday Rambler 40 foot pusher motor home. Had to have 2 of them replaced about 2 years after buying it, as they failed. Kind of soured me on that brand.
