Sad day, we have to sell! Advice

Go to RVTrader.com and plug in your own specifications and see what people are asking within a hundred miles or so of your location. Private sellers are a better indication of value than dealers. Dealers build in negotiation room in their retail price.

NADA trailer guides list SOME fivers, but not all.

I guess consignment could work if there is a nearby high volume dealer. You need lots of lookers. Also read the consignment contract very carefully. Can he sell it out from under you for almost nothing? (That was a complaint on consignment car sales here in Central Florida.) What is the Commission? etc.

Individually or combination? Your call. Just remember that you probably don't want to sell the truck and then have no way to move the trailer that hasn't sold yet.

Sorry to hear of health problems. My wife is going to be using a 3 wheeled scooter this year, to get around in the campground.

Both the trailer and truck should be easy to sell. I think I would list them to sell separate, but have the option for a better deal, when purchased together.

I doubt a beginner would want that size FW, and someone looking to move up may have their own capable truck. IMO, that truck would sell very quickly!

It is hard to get a dealers price, for our RVs, but I'd check to see what dealers are asking, compare that to wholesale value, and try to stay in the middle.

I know there has been a lot of shale workers coming into PA/Ohio. They have packed the campgrounds. I would try selling them separately or as a package on Craig's list. Try to list it in the regions that the shale/oil workers might be looking in. Good luck. We almost sold out due to illness a few years ago. Couldn't sell it, now we're glad we didn't

I've always had good luck selling privately. Craigslist is awesome... Advertise in all the cities you want. Newspaper ads are fast becoming obsolete. Advertise a fair price and don't be too quick to drop it if nobody call right away. It can take a couple of weeks before the first call but don't sweat it. If you answer texts, just tell them to call... 99% of texts are scams. Demand calls in person only, otherwise the texts will drive you nuts. Sorry for your situation. hang in there with getting it done.

CraigsList will bring quick results.

It's the right time of year!

RV Trader is good - but majority of shoppers use CL. (advertise in both.)
Also, Escapees have a "for sale" forum.

Suggest advertising both as a package AND a price for the trailer - by itself.
Don't hesitate to state: "Illness forces sale".

Truck should also be easy to sell *after* the trailer is sold.

IMO - hold off on consignment to see how you do with the above.....
unless dealing with the sale is not convenient for your situation.

If you are on facebook, list it there first and have your friends share your post. Then, again on facebook, look for "ohio campers" for sale and add them as firends and list on there too. We sold our 5th wheel from my facebook post - only took about 3 weeks to sell it and it didn't cost me anything to post.

We listed our 5th wheel on craigslist and got several scammers trying to purchase it - they wanted to deposit the money into my paypal account and send extra so I'd give to the pick-up guy.....I don't think so - cash in hand or no sale!!!


Also, I would list the camper and truck seperate but if someone wanted both you could always make them a sweet deal.

Compare your rig with others on as many venues as possible. Decide what you will accept for the 5th and the truck. Add a few bucks for negotiating if you have time to mess with it.
Put it on Craigslist in your location and any major area with in a couple hundred miles.
Don't get scammed.
I sold a car once and the guy seemed so flakey that I was sure he was NOT legit. I told him to meet me at his bank so we could consummate the deal, He did and I got full price. Sometimes you never know.
