Schwintek slide problem

Unless I am parked leaning slightly towards my Schwintek slide side, I can end up with a wet carpet.
The slide in question is a wardrobe slide and it appears the water is running along the top of one of the slide rails. The side blade seals are notched around the rails, although not very accurately. The D seal is positioned outside the rails so have no effect on water entering this way. A slide topper is fitted but only extends a few inches beyond the width of the slide, so rain falling at an angle can come into contact with the rails.
Has any one else had this problem, if so how did you overcome it

  • RTV works well, there is a fix out there to wedge seal back to apply a wide bead of caulking or RTV to the top of the rails to stop the water. These slides are very picky about water, alignment, and operation.

Excuse my European ignorance but is caulk the same as mastic

Not quite the same, mastic is an adhesive, caulk is a sealant. Look for a clear or white silicone sealant at a building supply store.

  • I don't have this type of slide out, but have this suggestion. You have to 'eliminate' the flat top of the rail so water runs off rather than along the flat. Try running a bead of caulk on top of the flat and taper it with your finger or a flat blade screw driver to divert the water so it will drip off. Only needs to be a few inches in length just before the wiper seal.
