- jalichtyExplorerI am an original owner of a 2012 Jayco 26.5 HT RLS and had a couple of problems with the cap the first two years, having to replace two of them, one an manufacturer fault and one mine. The third one went on in the fall of 2013. This past summer I noticed a bunch of fading on the top 2/3 of the cap, gray, and sent a couple of notes to Jayco about trying to fix it. First note said no due to it being out of warranty, even though it was a known problem. Second note I asked them to share in the cost of waiting and didn't even get a response on that one. Will be takin go to a shop to get it repainted in a couple of weeks and the cost is a little over $1,400. Hope it works. I did try the Poli Glow and it was a total failure, worse after I put the stuff on than before if you can imagine that. Probably operator error but it probably wouldn't have done much good any, based on the comments on this thread.

Zep was applied to our on Tuesday last week. Looked fabulous. Was flaking off the decals on Thursday. The decals look like **** now but we had to leave the resort and head home on Friday. I asked for the rig to be waxed and this floor finish was used without our knowledge. Wish I'd paid by check rather than cash. Live and learn.
Might be good as the wax that was not removed will make the zep easier to remove. I spent a lot of time removing years of wax from ours including any screw or areas of wax in the furnace corners on the and doors. This is the key . chevman

- Edd505ExplorerI had a 2014 I bought used. Jayco knows there was a problem with the dark brown caps (other brands also) and they will not repair it unless your the first owner. Go to http://www.jaycoowners.com/forums/ & search faded front cap, tons of info.
- larry_barnhartExplorerAfter reading the old posts on ZEP or red max I can only tell what I know for our alpenlite. Red max pro or zep will go yellow on a white gel coat. the trailer in the zep pictures are not white but a almond like color. Zep stripper will damage the decals. Best to use the poli glow stripper as it works better and no damage to decals. All of this I know for a fact for us. Poli glow needs to be done every year as I have done and will in a few months at home.
I will wash with their prep using a hand glove and 2 coats of poli glow. I get so many great comments at our rv resort on How does your 2001 alpenlite look so great. The hard work is in the beginning removing the wax build up from many hard days of waxing. No more hard work and a better looking rv. I started with red max pro and use it or zep and learn what I know. Red max to my knowledge is not made but the zep is the same company. A very damaged fifth for fading is very close to us and he has done most of his tan now color and it is brown like it was made in 2014 using poli glow.
chevman - AUwing2ExplorerDon't settle too soon, call Jayco and asked if they'll participate. It's a know issue that they've been pretty accommodating to resolve. The solution is a repaint with automotive quality product. Ours was repainted last fall. No doubt, being the original owner working thru the original selling dealer helped but Jayco has a bit of a Rep for being reasonable
- goducks10ExplorerHere's a link to a thread about refinishing fiberglass RV's.
Another option. I'm not sold that it's a 5-10 year solution, but might be good for 2-3 years or longer.

Tried the Zep on mine. Looked good for a few months then it really went sour. Did all the prep work. It started to flake off after bieing in the sun a few months. Had a real mess to get off before I had it painted..
Before you throw in the towel I suggest you use the forum search feature and look for post concerning Zep. Fading is chronic problem in the boat industry and many use acrylic products to restore - Zep is an inexpensive acrylic floor polish that many RVers have used to made their faded rigs look new again. I don't have a brown cap like yours but I did have lots of Brown decals and Zep restored them. Worth a look - Zep is dirt cheap and if it doesn't work then you haven't lot much. Hope this helps.
