SxS question

I understand the the new law makes it to where you cannot add additional seats to a 2 seater but I thought I heard they grandfathered in older models? What is the year cutoff and how does the law read for wearing helmets? And lastly if you install a child car seat do they have to have a helmet too? Our friends have a 2011 or 2012 Rhino with a full roll cage and seatbelts for everyone. Looking to bring it this coming week to Pismo and just want to make sure we are following the rules. Thanks!

Contact your local Century 21 Agency, they are top notch rental firm with well mantained propertys for rent.

Strabo, I am moving to Morro Bay early next summer due to my military transfer.
I have never been to pismo, so I will need some "assitance" with getting my self in the direction to enjoy my 4 years down there.
I have been spoiled living in Winchester Bay Oregon for the past 4 years.

Looks like Pismo will be my new "sand box" for a while....

No need to be sorry, we never ride without helmets. The new law is very flawed as you don't need helmets riding in a jeep with no roll cage or in a golf cart (unless it can exceed 30mph). I understand why helmets are now required but at some point people need to be able to make their own choices, good or bad.

Now we just have to try and get our two year old used to wearing a helmet so he can finally go on some of the rides on the beach.

Thanks for the info, we will be there next week. Luckly our 2 year old has a big head, a small helmet fits him well. Didnt realize how big his head was until I just measured it, lol.

Well in reading AB 1595 section 38602. A person operating, and any passenger in, a recreational off-highway vehicle shall wear a seatbelt and shoulder belt or safety harness that is properly fastened when the vehicle is in motion.

A car seat is a form of a safety harness if properly installed, big question will be if there is a "approved" helmet that will fit a 2 year old..... The seach continues!

As long as the Rhino is pre 2014 your ok with the 4 seats . From what I know and can find everyone in the vehicle has to wear seatbelts and helmets. As for the carseat i'm not sure if that is even leagal to have in the SXS . I just read the laws and didn't see anything about the carseats.
