Toy hauler choices. Opinions needed.

We have an XLR Thunderbolt and LOVE it. All the brands are put together basically the same way using the same components. It's the time taken to assemble them and the service offered after the sale that really sets one apart from the other. XLR is a smaller operation only rolling out about 8 units a day. Cyclone is a market leader right now and rolls out about 25 a day. Voltage has been known to have a lot of issues from the getgo and their slide system is very problematic. They also won't do any off list options. XLR is great about this so if there is anything you can think of that's not on their standards and options list, they will likely do it for you at the factory at a very reasonable rate.

As to dealers, I would price shop Jeff Couch's RV Nation. They are the cheapest out there and ship TONS of RV's to Canada every year. My local dealer wouldn't come within $9500 on my XLR so I took the 800 mile trip to OH to get it. They also have great deals on shipping if you'd prefer delivery. You can do a build and price right on their website. They will email you a quote a few minutes after you submit. It's about 37% off MSRP which is very fair off a special order unit. If you'd like to talk to somebody, ask for Brannon. He's a great low pressure sales guy who answered my 1 million questions even on nights and weekends when he was off work. I am happy with my 2014 Fuzion Impact that we bought new in March 2015. It is 38' 6" and is tri-axle.

I much prefer a 12' garage. For what we haul, 10 feet will not work. BTW, one of the big reason we bought the Fuzion is it has a half bath off the the garage.

I agree with Carl. 12 foot is a minimum on garage space. Especially since you loose space in the back with the ramp patio folded up and the three season doors most are equipped with these days. 12 only nets you a hair over 11. We have 14' and always seem to fill it. Toys sure but gas grill, bicycles, etc. and we have a washer/dryer back there.

More brands have more floorplans with a half bath than without nowadays. We opted not to get one with it as it's another black tank to hook up to and flush and with the shorter trips we usually take, two tanks would never be even close to a good level for dumping. People who take longer trips or have bigger families love them though and I can understand why. It's all about how you use the rig really...

carbon 327, 38' 12' garage no bath taking room from it and no patio....we can barely fit the rv in some places never mind having the ramp door open for a patio. Honestly my wife didn't want the second bath, just another thing to clean.

the garage space was my priority as I want enough room to fit 2 full size 4x4 atv's and other items.

1jeep, you're up in the Northeast with me. We sure are limited by size with our old smaller campgrounds up here. Mine is 44.5' and while I have been able to get into anywhere I wanted so far, I'm changing my booking style next year to bigger places, full hookups, and pull through sites if available just to simplify getting in and out. So far we have had had our ramp patio open on all our trips though. It's become a fast favorite place to sit on nice days...

yup...sadly even get rejected by some places. Recently we were at old orchard beach, our favorite place had nothing big enough so we ended up down the road, but in the end we liked the new place. I will be out in your area for labor day, over at Hinsdale NH. small place and little sites but it is one of the few places within 3 hours that allows atv's.
I cant imagine towing 44', I think im at my limit.

If you're an ATV guy, Maine is the only way to go... 6k miles of signed interconnected trails. You can even register online. I know of a couple of campgrounds with trailhead access if you ever want to go further north.

we do a couple trips a year to northern NH, ride the wilds in coos county, they now have over 1000 miles and connects into Maine.

My .02 worth. XLR or Fuzion.

We're former Cyclone owners. Will never do that again, even if it means we camp in a tent.

Quality and manufacturer support of the XLRs and Fuzions seem far better. As for garage, you gotta go 12'. If you're hauling ATVs, many are close to 6' long. That means 2 can go in back to back. If only 10', you gotta park them sideways which can be a hassle.

Agreed on all fronts LS. (Although my Road Warrior was issue free, I remember well all the issues you had. I think I was lucky...)

I staggered my two quads in my last hauler that had a 10' garage. They rubbed each other and the walls. Not fun. Getting a thousand lb quad sideways was impossible too so that was beyond a hassle for us. Just like anything else... Get more than you need as you will grow into it...
