Dehumidifier recommendations?

Stay away from the LG brand, I had 3 fail in less than two years.

I currently have a Kenmore and one from Harbor Freight which have run nearly continuously for several years now.

We find we need ours along the Oregon Coast however, inland as in McMinnville, we don't need it, but outside Independence at Luckiamute Landing with the rivers, and winter rains, it is a must.

So sometimes it is not necessarily the location as it is the weather, rain and temperature combinations. Here at Grand Ronde we keep ours plugged in just in case the temps go up and the amount of rain is in the 1/2 inch prediction. We would not be rv'ng in the Fall/Winter months along the Oregon Coast without it.

We keep ours between the table and couch which is in a slide out. I then drilled a 1/2 hole in the slide out floor and ran the hose outside to drain onto the ground. The hose sticks out only a few inches below the slide and is barely visible. Just need to remember to pull the hose up first before I pull the slide in.

If you are only in your RV in Florida from December through May, do you really need one? We are in SW Florida and have never found the need for one in our RV. The only thing we try to do is run the fantastic fan in the bathroom when showering.

We just haven't noticed the need for a dehumidifier in the winter months. Probably would help in the summer though.

X2 and I'm in Coastal Georgia.

One minor consideration if you're running it in an unoccupied RV is what does the unit do after a power failure. My electronic controlled model will not restart so I sometimes enter the RV to find the dehumidifier not running. Some of the newer electronic models have a feature that will restart the unit at the same settings it had before the power failure.

Lowes has a real good selection of them. They have a cup you have to take out to dump AND they also have a hose to drain it.

I set mine just outside the bathroom and ran the hose it came with to drain to the shower. That way you don't have to keep draining the cup.

BTW in the cup mode don't worry it shuts off when full so it won't spill over.

You will be surprised how much better your AC keeps the temps cooler inside with a dehumidifier.

It's THE reason I bought one on recommendation of the Mobile Repair guy when I decided to stay thru a Florida summer.

What a dif the dehumidifier made in making it cooler in the hot hot days of a Florida summer I gained an easy 10 degrees cooler with the dehumidifier running. :C

There are lots of previous posts. Search this Forum for `dehumidifier' and read on. You can minimize the posts by searching the results for `electric'.

We bought a small one from Lowes (about $30 or $40). IT is about the size of mr. coffee, coffee maker. We place on a shelf at one end of the trailer. It is easy to empty and we check it every other day.
