Estimated Monthly Electricity Cost?

Traver8

Hi All,

I am looking for some help and thought that those who are full-timing or living in their RV might be able to help me. I am trying to decide on a park spot to stay in for a couple of months for work and I found a nice place but I would have to pay my own electricity costs instead of it being bundled into one overall monthly rent cost like another park I am considering.

So..I am looking for anyone that might be able to provide an estimate of the monthly cost of electricity that I might use. My details - 30' TT, single AC, by myself and at work during the day with AC off. Water heater would be a mix of electric and propane but again likely off during the day. This is Southeastern NM so this time of year we really don't need heat anymore.

Anyone got a guess? I am trying to balance things overall and reduce my costs as much as practical which is why I am exploring the options.

Thanks for the help.

With no AC usage we use 300 to 350 KWh per month. We have seen rates from $0.10 per KWh to $0.20 per KWh.

One needs to record KwH over $ as rates can vary.

I fulltime, and used 780 KwH last month. I expect to use more during the summer ahead (and am grateful it is not so hot this year as last) and expect this to be my final summer down here.

In one capground we stayed in the electric was additional and it ran right at $120 for the month. This was in October and it was cool not cold. I know the site had to have added a surcharge on the electric there was no way we used that much. We have a condo in this city, which we now lease and it ran about 50-60 for the same time last year.
Before we do an electirc additional again, they will have to point out my meter to me and I will read it before and after and ask the per kw rate.

.12 KWH here. Tend to run about 75 in the winter and summer it can get up to 220 or so. We like it cold though. AC set for 73 and when we sleep we put it down to 60 in the bedroom area.

We just spent 2 months in FL and used close to 300kw each month. They charged 13 cents per kw. We were right at $40. Your usage probably won't be the same and the CG's can charge whatever they want. I'd be mostly concerned with what they charge per kw.

We have had anywhere from $28 to over $300. That was when DH thought electric was cheaper than propane one winter month. Then there was the $600 bill when our lot was rented to some marijuana growers :E

Summer of 2011 and 2012 prior to moving into our house in coastal South Carolina running air never exceeded 75.00 per month. I would bump the thermostat up to 80 during the day while at work just to keep the humidity down and to keep it from turning into an oven in there and would put back down to 75-76 when I was in. I learned the hard way that turning it off during the heat of the day took too long to cool down.
I saw bills during this period from 30.00 to the high of 75.00. I learned to read the meter and could tell to the day how much I used, SCE&G was .11 per KWH.
I ran the refrigerator and the a/c on electric and used propane for cooking and hot water. I also used two electric heaters in the winter to stretch the propane.
The 2.00 per day average is a pretty good one, especially in the summer. This was with ONE ac only.

We must be pretty frugal. We are in a 50 amp unit and we only use between 400-500 per month at most and we have yet to use both air conditioners at the same time. We have not however stayed in the southern states during the summer. I'm sure that make a big difference. Only thing on propane is the cooktop. Our bills range from $45 to $69 with the higher being when we had to use air for a few days straight.

We've stayed in CG's that charge anywhere from 10-22 cents a kw ($50-$222). Yours will be less on 30amp than our 50amp, w/d,2-AC's, and me home while DH works.

I'm waiting to see what our bill will look like this month (our 2nd full mo in NC). Luckily, the first $100 is free. Last month, we used 783kw in 28 days, $3.93 daily avg for a total of tax $116.62. Last year whoever occupied this space used 1944kw in 29 days, $8.48 daily avg.

When I full timed in my Excursion my elec bill would normally be $50-60.00 a month. No A/C. While in hot climates running ac almost 24/7 $150-200.00 a month at 12-14 cents a kilowatt. All appliances on elec. Hope this helps. AC set at 78.

We don't stay many places that charge for electric but so far when we do it averages $2.00 per day or a bit more we figure. We run the refer and water heater on electric and we use our onboard washer and drier.

In the past, while either full timing or monthly stays, I budgeted about $2 a day. Most months were very close to that figure. The only propane we used for that figure was some use of the stove top burners for cooking.

I full time and my electric in the non a/c periods runs $45.00/month @ $0.15/kwh. I run my refrigerator and water heater on propane during this period also. Propane is cheaper for me than electricity.

Fortunately I spend most of my summers hosting at a state park so my electric is free.
