Maybe Made a Mistake(?)

We've had 4 different fulltime units.

We started with a 40' enclosed bath w/triple axle to a 36' split bath. Then upgraded to a 38' enclosed bath. We just upgraded to another 38' because we needed a slightly larger closet, more basement space and most of all the 48" shower in the enclosed bath. But now we have a slightly smaller living space, but have more upper cabinets and counter space in the kitchen than the last unit.

Floor plan is everything. We've been in slightly larger units and they weren't as well laid out or feel comfortable. We've been in smaller units that one portion is great and cramped in the other.

Depends, Opposing slides tend to be narrow. Our single slide is 42" Add in 8.5' main box and that's pretty much 12'. Agreed, it's a lot of room but then we are happy with a lot less length.

To the OP's question: My guess is if 35' isn't enough 37' is unlikely to make a huge difference. An RV will never compare to a house. Doesn't even compare to a 1 bedroom apartment.

We went out in a 32' Winnebago Adventurer with no slides. Just 2 of us, a 2 year old, a small dog and big cat. We did fine space wise - we had far more of an issue with weight because I carry a lot of tools.

I have a four wheel drive Chevy, all four are in the rear.;)

We have been FT for 2 1/2 years in a 32 ft Carriage Cameo. We have a large dog & so far have no issues with lack of space. We spend 5 1/2 months in the southern USA. The trailer is well insulated & we have been warm in -20 C snowstorms in Canada. We pull the trailer with a Dodge 3500 SRW. If we had a bigger trailer we would need at least a dually.

We went from a 29 ft TT with one slide to a 32 ft 5'er with 2 slides. We think we have plenty of room for us and the 4 canine kids. I honestly think, tho, what made the most difference is that we went from a center kitchen to a rear one. That really opens up a place!

You might want to check out this line up. They are prepped for Washer and Dryer, are set up for four season living, and fall into your length and weight restrictions.

New FWs

It has been well established here and on other forums that trucks and RV's are in the eye of the beholder. We are full timers, don't have a bricks and stixs so our RV is our only home.
I would not pull with anything but a Ford or Dodge, we use the F450 Ford, the truck would need to be a Dually. RV building regulations restrict the square footage to 430 square feet. How much living space will you gain by going up 2' in length?, versus the refinancing or added cost? We RV'ed for years in bumper pulls, longest was 32'. We now have a 39' 5th wheel toyhauler which has a 12' garage which gives use 27' of living space, we find this more that adequate. We used the RV rule of 6 months, if you haven't used, wore, or touched a thing or device in 6 months then you don't need it. We did include a Splendide washer/dryer in our required needs, we also have the ability to add another AC in the bedroom but have not done so yet because we don't see the need, we do live 60% of the time in Rockport, Texas.
