Where do you Park?

We stay in parks usually. Sometimes in the capacity of hosts, the rest of the time paying site fees. We spent 3 nights in the past 6 months at a Walmart parking lot. We do use COE parks with my husbands senior pass so those fees are usually under $10 per night.

Although we still have our house..we're in southwest Georgia for now..5 miles from Florida. We found a place on the waterfront..$350/month..FHU..with cable..wilderness..only 6 other campers..lottsa freedom.
we travel around to check other options from here.

I have a sprinter van conversion so I stay with friends or family or truck stops or walmart, grocery stores, apartment complexes. Shopping centers, or office parking lots. Sometimes church parking lots.

We'll snowbird. South in RV resort in winter, then travel in spring and fall. Camp host in north in state parks two months in summer.

We stay at mobile home trailer parks for long term stays sometimes. Usually a cheaper option, and most campgrounds around here close up for the winter. Trailer parks stay open all year. One thing to ask is whether or not your neighbors might have unwanted pests that might move in with you. We have the Terminex guy on speed dial now, after one trailer park owner failed to inform us of a cockroach infestation next door. We have spent 4 months and we think they are now gone, but it hasn't been fun. And we moved.

We have sort of a "summer base" in the same area we used to have our stick built in. It is a good RV park on a river that charges $325 a month with full hook-ups (that's just over $10.00 per day).

When we travel we generally stay in campgrounds. We belong to KOA, Passport America, and Good Sams for slight discounts. We rarely use Walmarts or truck stops. Once and awhile we do use State or Federal campgrounds. We try to average $25.00 per night for CG fees while traveling.

For the winter we are hooked on the beaches of SW Florida. If you want to stay within a mile or two of the beaches and have perfect temps for 5 months you have to pay. We end up paying well over $40.00 per night at a RV resort in Florida.

That is one of the wonderful things about full time RVing. You can spend $1,000 a year for CG fees, or you can buy a $150,000 RV lot in the Florida Keys and pay $5,000 a year maintenance fees, or anything in between.

Some counties like Galveston, tx charge $10 per year for a permit that allows you to camp on almost any beach in the county outside the city limits.

We stay wherever the mood takes us enroute to our snowbird headquarters in Arizona.
For example Natchez trace to Natchez camping in the free National Park service campgrounds on the parkway. We will then Follow the Mississippi more or less to the Gulf of Mexico. Stay ON THE BEACH in Holly Beach, LA, known as the Cajun riviera then on to Crystal Beach, TX for more time ON THE BEACH. These are all dry camping free spots (well $10 per year). Then on to the Apache trail spending time where the mood strikes us. We will camp on the Apache trail for $3 with the geezer pass in a national Park Service CG with no hookups.
Like magpies if we see a bright shiny object we will detour to investigate.
We will spend tie in Walmart lots although we are liking LOWES more and more. When they close the noise leaves and the WIFI is on all night.
We dump at spots found on sanidumps.com or wherever legal. Once a week finds us in a CG doing laundry, relaxing taking long hot showers and watching TV the on the road again
