12 volt mysteries

12 volt lights, fan , furnace, levels readout do not work. 12 v batteries in good condition. Lights , etc. work with generator.. When I turn radio switch from main to aux and switch to aux power the radio works , when I turn off the auxiliary power the radio stoops so I am assuming that power from the house batteries is getting to radio but the lights, fan, levels readout do not function on 12v. Theb12v pop up breakers have not popped so what can be going on? Any suggestions would be appreciated since I certainly can't figure this out. Thanks for any help.
  • thanks for everyones help. unfortunately, still no joy. with a/c from the generator the thermostat works the roof air and the lights, fan, etc. checked the dc pop up breakers and all seem to be good. my rv is a 1999 itasca sunrise so maybe the converter is, as suggested, not up to par. but if the converter is not working properly would that no make all the 12v fans, lights malfunction as well? still puzzled.

    Check your battery disconnect switch.

    2X or the ground...
  • Need to know make, model and year of your coach.

Try cycling the DC breakers just to be sure. Sometime they could trip but not pop out enough to appear tripped. Are the fans that no longer work the ceiling vent fans or the small fans near the windshield. Does the air conditioner work (needs 12VDC for the thermostat)? I'm thinking chassis supply 12VDC distrubution rather than house but the furnance is normally powered from the house DC power not chassis. Will the problem items work when the AUX Start switch is closed?
  • Might be a bad ground..,.but also check your power CON-verter. That might be bad.
Just changed mine, at 13 years old, it was putting out 12.2 amps. Usable, but weak. Bought a new one...Parallax 4455 (55 amp) unit for $209, on-line.
    Now all is well...
  • I only know one thing about 12 volts when something is wrong with it, it's always the ground....... Someplace.
