looking at this unit, has the V10 motor with a rear corner bed (which is what we want).
22' long (which we want).
Anybody have any experience with this unit they can share such aas handlinggas mileage, etc.
Asking $15,900, has 115,000km but probably offer $13,000.

The pricing is a bit high- but again, I found when we were buying ours in 2011 that NADA was a lot lower than the actual market.
I don't get hung up with what NADA says-- just compare to the actual market.

We bought our '98 Coachmen with 111K for $7500. It had new tires, recent 100K tune up, new shocks and other front end parts. A/C is ice cold in cab; everything in coach works as it should. I had to invest in rear brakes, brake lines and a new roof-----------I am into it for $11,500 now.

Make sure the unit you are looking at has had the 100K tune up, has good tires, (suspensions tend to need maintenance around 100K), roof is in EXCELLENT condition- preferably replaced, and everything in coach works as it should.

Don't let mileage scare you- engines last longer with less repairs when driven on regular basis.

Not super sure, which unit you are looking at. But NADA lists a 98 Tioga 22ft, for 9K average retail. Remember do not add in options on NADA. Thats a bit of a dealer "trick"

I have a 24ft Coachman with a slide. It appears the one you are looking at does not have a slide. Many folks do not like slides, but we certainly do. Really helps with a small MH.

Besides the usual stuff, roof issues, belts tires hoses etc. You might consider a few things about the early V-10's They are great engines but,

You can expect I would think about 10 to 11 mpg. (which is pretty good)
Some of the early V-10's had a nasty habit of spitting spark plugs, and ruining the head. So you might consider re-tourging or replacing the plugs to be on the safe side.

Ford used really cheap hose clamps, so I would replace those with regular clamps. Becuase if the clamps let go, not good. 2 of mine were rusted out after only 6 years

And they did originaly use green antifreeze, which caused some corrision issues, Later they switched to gold, so you might consider that.

The price may be high. NADA books it at $7450 to $8950 and you are at about 71,000 miles. I might go as high as $11,000 if, tires are good, maintenance records, roof good, exterior good, runs and drives very good, no signs of water damage, etc. Still you will probably put another $2000 into it. The reason I say it's priced high is I paid $12,200 for my 03 Chateau 26Q in January and it was in very good shape and at 48,000 miles and I have put about $1500 into it. Mine books for $20,000 because of the 8.1 Vortec.

Go drive it, but I would probably pass unless they are willing to come way down.

All I can tell you is do not buy this MH unless you test drive it on an interstate doing 55 BEFORE you buy it.
