2000 Challenger by Damon

Anyone have any good or bad info to share on a 2000 Challenger by Damon??

I have been looking for a motorhome, 2000 or newer, with less than 50,000 miles, with a good floor plan.

WELL,,, I found a 2000 Challenger by Damon, with a good floor plan, with 44,000 miles. Work horse chassis, with Chevy 454 motor, 1 slide, looks to be in good shape, from pictures that is... Hope to see it tomorrow.

Any advice well be helpful,, :) Thanks JT
  • Its in the middle for Damon. Its a fine family RV for the money. Damon's tend to have excellent floor plans. Our had the L shaped couch and we loved that. It allowed the wife and I to sit together at night.

Just be sure to check for leaks near windows inside and out. Then go through all the systems like the heat, AC, fridge and so on. I would say to do that no matter what you were buying.

Some of the people on here have forgotten what its like to have a tight budget so they always recommend big dollar machines. For those of us who don't have unlimited funds, there are fine RV's out there for us too.
  • Thanks MG for the info,
We are just getting into "motorhoming", and we have learned a lot from people like you who take time to share important info like this. I know different makers of MH have several different levels/packages/options on their rigs. Can you tell me if the Challenger is the low end or high end for Damon??
  • My opinion:

There are 4 classes of RVS:

    Ultra High end

    High End

    Mid Grade

    Low End

Each class has a reason to be there. I would put a Damon in the top of the "low end" class or the bottom of the "mid grade" class. They are a very good bang for the buck coach. I've owned one and we had several great years with it. It required a close eye on maintenance due to a lower grade of materials being used. This was not a big deal but it is something worth noting. We almost bought another Damon this year but opted for a different unit mostly due to the floor plan. We would have been happy with the Damon had that been our choice.

One thing to look closely for is leaky windows. Look inside and outside for punky walls near the window. This was more common than I hoped for when looking to buy a Damon.
