Hello everyone :) I'm looking into an RV that's for sale and wanted some insight. It's a 2004 Allegro Bay 37DB with 27k miles on it. They are asking 45k for it. I took a look at the outside today and I'll be looking inside on Sunday. My objective is to full time. The owner added a washer and dryer. I'm a little worried about the age of the RV. It looked great on the outside but I don't know much about RVs that age. Just wanting some advice on if it's worth it or if I should look for newer models. However I don't have a ton to spend which is why I liked the amount lol. Thanks for any help!!

The Nada shows retail on that unit to be $44,000 with low retail $36,500.Just FYI.Dale

Be sure to check the baggage doors and see if they'll close independently or if they're hitting each other.

Thanks Dale. The owner said the nada was at56,000. I assume that's from the add one? Hm.Good to know. I'll check that out when her unlocks them.

Adding a washer adds $300, since it didn't come equipped with one.Dale

I was mostly referring to the 8.1 and Alison trans in the Workhorse vs the 2 valve V-10 and the 4 speed trans in the Ford chassis, 2006 and newer Ford up the HP and the 5 speed trans which made it a better deal without the problems with the Workhorse issues and recalls.

Take a look on how old the tires are. Check the dates. Cost a lot to replace.

What chassis is it sitting on, Ford, Workhorse or diesel.

I would be more concerned with the chassis 1st if the RV part was in good shape, since its a 2004 I would favor the Workhorse over the Ford and if its a diesel chassis do you have the funds when it needs repaired.

Since I am a Ford fan I would only buy a used Ford F-53 if the chassis was 2006 or newer, before 2006 Workhorse wins out.

37 foot motorhome with slides has a gas chassis at max weight in my book, be carful..

The key to keeping the front of a Class A clean is keeping it waxed and using dryer sheets to clean the bugs off it! Our Tiffin looked like new when we sold it and it was (8) years old and had 80,000 miles on it! Bags.

Just for comparison, there is a 2006 Allegro Bay by Tiffin on the PPLmotorhomes.com website, 2006 and asking $51,495 with only 7,700 miles. Odd thing is, is that the front of the motorhome is very dirty.

We owned a 2004 Allegro Bay 37DB and we liked it. Biggest problem was sometimes the windshield wipers would short out and stop working, but the ride was especially good once I added the Koni FSD shocks and we changed out the bed that came with it for a Sleep Number bed. However, we put 80,000 miles on it and drove it everywhere and lived in it for weeks at a time. Ours was garage kept and when I parked it out in front of our commercial building with a FOR Sale sign, it sold in 3 hours! Bags

There are many fulltimers that have rv's of that vintage and older. Ours is a 2000 that we have owned for 7 years.

Look at the maintenance records and make sure all the periodic maintenance for the chassis, generator and house systems were done. They should be able to show you receipts and/or a log of what was done.

Ask what upgrades have been done, like LCD TVs, flooring, etc.

Look carefully at the paint and make sure there is no paint checking. It looks like little checks under the clear coat.

Talk to them and find out how obsessive they have been in taking care of the coach.

Have an independent inspector or mechanic check it out.

If all that checks out, I would not have an issue purchasing the coach.
