2008 Monaco Dynasty Renaissance iV

Just purchased this unit. How's the maintenance? What issues might I face? Thanks.
  • Probably the first thing to do is go to Good Sam and get the Extended Service Plan until you know exactly what you now have. An annual cost of $1500 is cheap compared to a radiator of $6500 or CAC of $3500 or many other items.

Next have service done with oil change, fuel filter changes, total chassis lube. Depending on if it is a DP you might want to join some of the forums for your chassis and others for your engine.

Congratulations on your new purchase and welcome to one fast learning curve.
  • Either get the service plan on it now or have it looked over with a fine tooth comb by a mechanic!

Also, don't look at it like "what issues may I face"
look at it like "where do I want to go!!!!!"

Welcome to the forums and congrats on a GREAT coach... yes, I'm a little biased having owned my Dynasty for 13 years. Hopefully it has fairly new tires. With the fuel tank in the second bay overloading the front axle should not be a problem... amazing how much stuff you can carry. Without knowing what items have been changed it's hard to say what needs doing.

With a little practice it's surprising how well and stable the RR10S chassis handles. Cannot tell what RVs you've driven before so when driving something this long, it's easy to over-steer it. On a good road without any wind work on how little steering input it takes to keep it between the lines by giving those inputs a little longer to take affect.I still put in multiple 750 mile days as it's that relaxing to drive my Dynasty. In turns you need to wait longer to start it because you are in front of the front axle. Going slower and then quickly turning the wheel all the way will help make those tight turns.

I am not a fan of extended warranties BUT I do all of my own maintenance and repairs, not that there has been that many repairs.
*You can PM me with any specific questions.

Congrats and hopefully you understand why I said its a "Great Coach". With practice steering inputs should be minimal at speed. There is no reason to service the Ahot diesel boiler every year, especially if it has two electric elements... rarely having to run the boiler. If after a minute of running the Ahot's exhaust still has a noticeable smell to it, it's time to have it serviced... not before.

If you do not know when the air dryer filter was changed I would buy one from EBay... less than $100 and change it. I mark on all of my filters the date and/or miles. I only change the engine oil every 15K miles and generator every 250 hours because a engine that works hard most of the time does not have moisture in it.

Other than the multiplex system I know a fair amount about a Dynasty so you can PM me if you have any questions.
  • Welcome to RV.net Summrbrzz!

What are the particulars of your '08 Dynasty?
    Engine?
    Length?
Amenities: Aqua Hot?, which leveling system (air and hydraulic?)

Hope that your unit came with all the 'usersmanuals'.

    Merry Christmas,
    MM.
  • The Dynasty, like its brother the Beaver Patriot Thunder, are great coaches and you will enjoy it immensely. You will notice that there is very little sensation of speed so watch that closely. I find this to be especially true in the 35 to 60 mph range. You are sort of floating in silence.
  • Isn't that your old unit Mr. Mark??..I know my old HR did end up in Texas somewhere and would love to know who got it...and I am still learning the nuances with this coach..Very different chassis and some things do take a bit of getting used to....(ie the Message Center) loved the HR better than the Spartan one.
  • Stu, we had the Diamond IV floor plan and we were 42 ft. in length. I think the OP has a 43 or 44 ft. unit and a different floor plan. Ours was in Autumn Sunburst II paint scheme.

The 425 ISL Cummins was a little weak on performance going up hills. We weighed 40,029 lbs.

    Merry Christmas to you both!

  • Thanks to all who responded to my post this past December. The Dynasty is fantastic. It's 43', 450 Cummins with dual leveling systems. It does have Aqua Hot. Love the super quiet ride and the interior space. A few minor problems: the master bath window and the living room slide small window doesn't lock, and the co-pilot window screen is missing. There are a few more small issues, but thankfully nothing major.
Our prior coach was a 1998 Holiday Rambler Endeavor 38'.
  • Summrbrzz, we had the same issue with the bathroom window and the window in the driver's side slide not locking (behind the driver when slide closed). If you have the same windows that we had, they can be screwed in to the frame too tight which makes them not lock.

If you have the option of two electric elements with your Aqua Hot, you can heat the interior by using those two elements and not turn on the burner (if it's not too cold out--- mid 40's). You might can find a window screen at a RV salvage yard.

    Good luck,
    MM.
