2008 Travel Supreme Insignia 40DS04

There is a 2008 Travel Supreme Insignia 40DS04 in Huntsville Alabama. Has anyone hear of this. New to me, but I'm new to the Class A world. This is equipped with Cummins ISL 425 HP Diesel.

very well known motor home considered mid to upper level diesel pusher
they went BK in about 2009 area. considered to be a premium unit in their day
the jayco entegra has now taken its place last 5 years or so
  • They were well built and the company well respected prior to them shutting down. The new Entegra coaches are built using much of the old Travel Supreme equipment. I would not hesitate to buy one unless you find that their are component within the coach that could not be repaired or replaced by updated components. So many things can go wrong with our RV's, you don't need something that will haunt you in the future as technology advances and your RV falls behind with no hope of an update.
  • Travel Supremes are a top of the line coach. I would have no issues with owning one. Most of the stuff is made by others anyhow so parts should not be too difficult to find. Heck, I have a 2001 Beaver and a lot older and I manage to get what I need.
  • As the others have said, a very well built coach from a very well respected builder. I wouldn't hesitate a second if it was what I was looking for.
  • We full-timed in a Travel Supreme 5th wheel for 8 years. It was a wonderful unit - well-built. It was a very small company and the recession of 2008 hit hard.
  • As the others have identified, sub-supplier parts are still available and anything else can be fabricated by a third party manufacturer, if necessary. If you are still interested in a TS, consider visiting the owners group:

Plenty of friendly people with a ton of knowledge and experience that are always eager to help answer any questions you may have (esp. what to look for when buying). Good luck.

  • I'm trying to remember what years were affected, but there was an issue with the frame twisting and as a result the windshield would pop.
I looked at one a couple of years ago and it had this problem, lots of goop around the windshield and a bigger gap on one side than the other.

Apparently it can be fixed by welding cross bracing on the frame and later on the company made it standard.

sorry can't remember the years but there were several discussions on this, try a Google search.

Here's a link on the discussion.

  • TS would be on my short list for DP's! A Teamster friend of mine owns one and it is a very beautiful high quality coach! His I believe has a 550 H.P. Cummins engine.
