AC condensation...where should it drain?

Stupid question but where should the water from the ac drain? Mine is draining right onto the awning and dripping all across it. Is this normal or should the water drain somewhere else? I'm wondering if there is a drain tube or something clogged causing it to drain the way it is. It is on a 1997 Damon Intruder that only has a front ac unit.
  • Sounds like there are no gutters OR they are clogged at the lower end.

I ran a bead of caulk to try to encourage it to flow somewhere else. Sometimes it doesn't work.. so I raise or lower the front end a bit.
  • The higher level coaches (( $$$) have a internal drain line to the ground that could become clogged. Most just drain on the roof and your gutters should let it drain to a non annoying location . As already said , a slight angle change could help also.
  • I have the mini rain gutters and I tip the trailer slightly towards the rear. I want the water to drip off the rear of the rv.

Where do you want it to drain to?

  • What brand and model of motorhome do you have? Just might help to answer your question. On our 2006 Tiffin Phaeton the drains are inside the roof and exit at the LF lower corner and RR lower corner inside the caps.

Kind of depends on how level or what the angle of level is while you are parked..and how flat or crowned your roof is.

Ours is crowned and the condensation drain is on the side opposite the awning so ours always drips away from the awning and the doors.

If you have a flat roof, you can park slightly un-level with the down side opposite the awning or toward the back.
