AC will not cycle

I have a 93 Bounder. The front AC unit, when I run it does not cycle on and off even when I cut the thermostat all the way back. It will run then kick the breaker. Is this a bad thermostat? Is that an easy fix?
  • Starting to run and then tripping the breaker sounds like a problem with a starting capacitator in the AC, or some other problem that creates too high of a starting load.
  • It will run about an hour or longer before it will kick the breaker.....in the evening it doesn't seem to kick it, but in the heat of the day it seems to.
  • Could have a dirty condenser coil causing the compressor to run a high head pressure making it pull more amps then normal.

Is there a do it your self way to check this??
  • With the unit off, go up top and remove the plastic cover. Check for dirt and dust in the coils. us compressed air to clean it out.
If this doesn't change your problem, I'd change the start capacitator, maybe even use a hard start on it. They are cheap and online, like E-bay and such.
