Adding auto start to Generator??

I have a Onan 7500 watt generator in my 04 Fleetwood Revolution. Is it possible to add an auto start to this generator? If so, any idea how much it would cost? Thanks
Brian
  • ours cost about $600 about 6 years ago. It was very easy to install ourselves. Search for an EC-30W. Basically just unhook one cable and plug in a Y cable with the EC-30W. Then it is just a matter of picking a location for the remote and programming the remote. The remote should be plugged into a NON-inverter powered outlet.
  • The Onan EC 30W is a wireless fob based solution that you plug in and your done. It's around $600 last time I checked.

The hard wired ones that have to be wired in are half that but if you can't do it yourself then add $300'labor.

They allow you to set interior temp, quit time, voltage level..
  • Added it to my coach 10 years ago. Easy install. I did the remote operation. Works like a charm.
  • This is 2010 You Tube video on how to install it on a 7.5 and program the remote. It looks rather simple. For the guy installing it who knew what he was doing, it took him less than 30 minutes. It plugs right into the wiring harness and took one wrench to hook it the generator power.

    EC-30W install

  • I've been eyeing THIS AGS from Xantrex. At less than $300 might be a good option. Doesn't have a remote but I can live without it. The literature specs it will start on low battery and if the thermostat calls for A/C due to high interior temps. Also has quiet time settings.
  • If you have a Magnum MS-2012 or anything in that family, you can install an AGS module easily. I like the fact that my charger has control of the generator if needed. It does all the quiet time, exercise mode, HVAC auto start, auto warmup and cool down, etc. Everything in one place on one panel
