Okay, now I am really confused. You installed a wire from a 12v source to a switch and them to the white wire and you are calling it a disconnect switch. While writing this I suddenly figured out what you are trying to do. I think.
You have 12vdc to one side of the switch, if the switch is closed, the step goes in and out when the magnetic door switch is opened and closed. When the switch is open the step stays out.
If this is correct, what you have is a By Pass switch. If you look at the wiring diagram for your steps there is no Disable Switch there is a By Pass switch.
Your terminology had me going for awhile. I too contacted Fleetwood way back in 1998 and got the wiring diagrams but in my opinion they were very vague, they did not specify the exact location of connections, just how the wires were run.
So congratulations, you have it working the way you want and that is the purpose of mods.
