Another inverter transfer switch question

I have a relatively new 2014 Fleetwood Bounder. With all the power off over the winter I reopened the unit, put the generator on and got nothing, no 120v electricity plugs worked, microwave would come on etc. Thinking the 2 6v batteries (in tandem 12v) were low (as they say they have to be fully charged) I recharged them to float stature, still nothing.
Circuit breakers all functioned, breakers on generators worked. I was getting power to 2 tv's and one plug in the bedroom?
I called Fleetwood and went over everything with them, circuit breakers, batteries, inverter on, no clear answer
I was going on a few day trip with the grandkids and assumed 50amp shore power would work. On our way I stopped at General RV where I bought the Rig to check out the situation, they found out that the generator was putting out the power but the transfer switch Surge guard 41260 was not forwarding the power on. Wires were tight on it. They were going to order a new one.
So the question is, am I missing something here or does a relitively brand new transfer switch go bad over the winter just like that?
Anything else I should be checking, looking at? Thanks in advance....
  • Depending what inverter you have, many have one or two circuit breakers mounted on the inverter. One of them may need to be reset. Keep in mind that everything except the A/C units typically run through the inverter and then out to the 110 volt electrical components.
  • (You say: "put the generator on and got nothing, no 120v electricity plugs worked, microwave would come on etc." you have no 120v power but you also say you had working plugs an microwave which are opposites, so what is it?

It's possible that only one side of the transfer switch has gone bad I suppose, assuming those things that worked are on the other working (120V) leg.... )
No what I meant to say was all the outlets by the microwave, bathrooms, GFI didn't work, yet "a" plug by the bedroom TV had power...head scratcher

  • Any electronic or electrical device can work and then stop working. That is the nature of most things that fail. Perhaps there was moisture/high humidity where you stored the vehicle, or it just could be bad luck.
Did they check the generator for the CORRECT voltage output? If it is too low or too high, your EMS may prevent the power from getting to your main electrical panel and the power you are seeing at the TV's is just power from your inverter. .
