Another Stupid Leveling Question.

New to class C but had several TTs. I bought the Camco 3 step ramps to level our RV but several times, when I go to use them, especially on the front wheels, the RV tends to just shove them rather than go up on the ramps. It works fine in the rear. I tried shoving them against the tire as hard as I could but they generally slide along the pavement. Sometimes only one will slide while the other stays put which really messes up the leveling process. I suspect I would have the same issue with leveling blocks. I never had this issue with the ramps I used on my TTs although they were just a continuous ramp and not 3 stepped like these are. Any suggestions?

We are also new to the class c and invested in the yellow leveling blocks. IMO dont waste your money. Most of ours busted the first time we used them. Guess I know now why everybody makes their own!!

I've tried a couple different types of levels to determine if we are in fact level. First I used a 3' long carpenter's level which was great for front to back leveling as there is plenty of vinyl floor for the length of it but side to side, I could only put it on the table which was wobbly to begin with. I then tried to use the bubble type levels that go in the fridges but that was wildly inaccurate probably due the small size. I finally broke down and bought one of those blinking 4 legged levels but it too was inaccurate even after following the calibration procedure that came with it. I think it would work better if my rig had the power jacks.

Finally we settled on using the upper cupboard doors and the bathroom door as an indicator of being level and it works great. We just open the doors partially and watch how they swing. Once they stop moving, we are level.

TIP: We've attached 2 3" levels to our rig. One right behind the drivers door that can be read with the rear view mirror and the second reads front to back that is by the cooktop.

I should add that we leveled the vehicle before attaching the indicators. The driveway was fine and the cooktop was where it was most important to be level, otherwise its sleeping positions.

One thing that I've found that helps is to keep my foot off the brake petal. It's hard not to, because you know you need to stop as soon as you reach you reach the top of the block.

I've used pieces of old outdoor carpet or Astroturf lying underneath the leveling blocks; prevents them from sliding on the pavement as your front tires climb up on the blocks. Just a small piece will do, say 1 ft wide by 2 ft long.

The add for the levelers only showed trailers, are they suitable for Class C, has anybody used them for that?

the Anderson's are well worth the price. I just wish they had them 60 years when I started RV'ing

Yes, they are. Depends on how much you want easier levelling.

It's Andersen, not -son.
