Do you realize how many people have your checking account number??? Every time you write a check before it gets to a bank, lots of people see it. If you really are so worried about people you don't know having you checking account number, you better get rid of the checking account!!!

I just recently sold my class A. On the advice of my bank, I set up a separate checking account into which the wired funds were transferred. You do not want to give the buyer your current, day-to-day checking account number; really good scammers may figure out a way to later compromise you current account. As soon as the wired funds were deposited into my new account, I immediately transferred the funds to my current account where the buyer could not gain access. This worked very well for me.

It is not repeating someone's post, it is quoting the post they are responding to or answering a question to that person, then we don't have to assume who you are talking to. I assume that is what you mean.

You probably don't need that release for the background check. You need it for the credit report, but a background check as the OP is talking about, is generally just a search of public records. What most people are looking for in these background checks is a criminal record. In fact most criminal records are public information, but they are also difficult to search. The FBI maintains a nation-wide database called NCIC that maintains all these records, but it is strictly controlled and can only be used for backgrounds under very controlled conditions. So since you generally can't access that nation-wide database, in order to do a complete background check you would have to check every judicial jurisdiction in every state and there are thousands of them.

No question. Just go to your bank and get wiring instructions. Have funds wired from his bank to yours.

Only exception I would make is if his bank has a branch where you are, and you and he go to the bank together and get a certified check (you watch the bank cut the check).

And, any buyer who doesn't understand this... well just have them read this thread.

Sad that one has to be so over cautious....something I never had to do before but now it's the norm.
Scammers, thieves and the like are out there looking to take advantage and with the internet the opportunities are endless.
