If they stop you before you make it through you will be forced off the highway and into downtown industrial area....Not a good pl;ace to drive you RV.
While I think the rule maybe antiquated It is still enforced.
Do not drive through tunnels with LP.
Simply not worth the risk of getting caught. Avoiding the tunnels is not that bad.The alternative routes are all highway driving.

I've been driving through the harbor Tunnel since it opened and they don't fool around with propane issues. They used to have officers stationed in cages along the tunnel but now have a number of cameras. Drive in with an RV and you can be sure to get a visit on your exit. The restriction is for any containers over 10 lbs. The fine is pretty stiff. Chuck

Take the 695 bridge around it..note I was told by the toll collector that if it was shut off it was OK..and they had 4 RV's pulled over at the end of the tunnel...This is back in 2007..learned my lesson

If you take the beltway to the Key Bridge there is a toll, the view is better and it's a few miles shorter. If you take the inland beltway not much of a view, it's a few miles longer but there is no toll. I took the Key Bridge option once, to see what it was like. Now I always take the inland route. I didn't think it was worth the toll. ๐Ÿ™‚

There are signs going into the tunnel for no propane. You can't have more than 10lbs.

I would avoid it. You take a risk of getting a ticket. Take the key bridge (695).

And everything is on cameras these days - not that I'm advocating trying it without cameras.

Baltimore bypass...either east or west....both bring you right back to I-95. I THINK the bridge is a toll...but the other way, no tolls, but maybe a bit more traffic. Either way...no problem

That's enough incentive for me to take the bridge. ๐Ÿ™‚

Key Bridge. Plus, I like the view better.

The Baltimore Tunnels are now 100% propane restricted. They will catch you quite easily since you have to go through the toll lanes just before or after the tunnels. The fine for going through the tunnels with propane is $500.

Just before the tunnel the State Police are standing to wave off campers and such onto a small exit road. Check your license etc. Then direct you to the Key Bridge.

Done it-been there.

It used to be OK to go through if you stopped, shut off the tank and had it tagged. Not sure if they still do that but it's well worth the minimal effort if it's still an option.
What I post is my 2 cents and nothing more. Please don't read anything into my post that's not there. If you disagree, that's OK.

Don't do it. Simple. They will catch you. A trailer or RV will stick out and the go around is easy.
