I never said that I didn't like the answers I was getting. The first answer I got was negative about me even posting the question. The last is somewhat the same. Why the negative replys. Everything that has been said is very helpful. I will probably go with the 2 6 volt when the 12's are gone. Like what my dear old Dad always told me if you have nothing good to say keep my mouth shut. I was just looking for a little help.

( am partial to Progressive Dyanmics 9230 over the IOTA but to be frank.. Not much difference between them.

My recommendation is this: First post what converter you have.. That way we know if upgrading is even indicated

Second you said you are going from a pair of Group 24 to a pair of Group 27.. WHY? These are MARINE/deep cycle batteires.. You really should think about DEEP CYCLE batteries. GC-2 (Six volt golf car batteries). They are a bit taller than the Group 24's but should fit in the same tray.

Here are some numbers 20 hour Capacity figures (C/20)

Group 24. 70-75
Group 27, 95-100

Since these are starting batteries (MARINE) first and deep cycle second, you really should not use more than around 30 percent of the charge

Double the amp hours for two in parallel

Six volt GC-2's hold 210 to 230 (even as much as 250 but those get real tall) you double the VOLTAGE when you put 'em in series so they basically become a 4D.

They are DEEP CYCLE designed to go down to half full without major damage.

If you want a simple small charger just bring a battery minder. It's basically an adapter with alligator styled 12V clips.

PD4000 series

Schumacher is well know in chargers.
I have 2 of theirs computerized chargers and 25amp charge is really good.
The other is also 75 amp starting booster and is loud, so test the noise before buying.
But before crossing off your camper converter, check what exactly it is.
For 2016 I would expect decent one.
The 40 amp converter in my 2004 camper will not support jacks, while 30 amp truck wire will, but I monitor voltage during charging and even it goes too high on long storage, I does decent job on standard recharging.
