We have an Oasis system in our coach. I always find myself wondering why they can't put that main switch somewhere in the coach?

Oh my goodness DSDP DON, I need you on speed dial! I completely understand now.
I am a visual learner and that helped me to see everything for now!

Thanks to everyone for trying to help. We are heading out in a new coach for the arrival of twin grandsons and just have not had time to research enough.

Hopefully someday we can return the favor for a newbie

"dpfreeman".....Somewhere in your coach you should have a display panel for various things such as your inverter and the Oasis control panel. Your Oasis unit has two electric burners for when you're connected to shore power. The Oasis panel has an upper switch that turns on the diesel burner....just leave it off. Just below that is another switch. It's a three way switch. One position is OFF, one position is one electric burner on (good for when you're connected to 30 amp) and a third position for both electric burners (good for when you're connected to 50 amp). When you turn this switch on, one or two lights will come on depending if you turned both burners on or not. Once they reach temperature, the lights will go out.

Lastly, before you do anything, there is an "ON" switch on the Oasis unit itself. You can find that unit in one of your outside bays. Nothing will work until the main unit is turned on.

Here is something I wrote when I first started using the Oasis unit. You might find it handy to print out and keep it until you're comfortable with the unit.

How does the Oasis Hydronic heating system work?

Our Oasis is similar to a home boiler type of heating system. Our diesel burner however uses the on board fuel supply and operates on a 12 Volt DC battery power supply. The boiler system then pumps the hot fluid throughout the interior of the motorhome. The domestic hot water is heated On Demand as it is being used. No separate storage of hot water is needed. The main heat source is the diesel-burner. However the Oasis is equipped with one or two 120/240 VAC 1500 watt electric heating element that can provide up to an additional 10000 BTU as well as recover waste engine heat to use in the system. These three sources of heat can all be used at the same time as well.

So does that mean without oasis running you will have no hot water?

Yes, There is a thing called a Hot-Rod. It is an add on that fits into the drain opening. Atwood does not recommend it.
