Black waxy gooey stuff in a stainless steel sink

I looked at 2 NEW 2016 diesel motorhomes the other day, the same manufacturer, same dealer, same lot, same year. Both had a black gooey splatter in the bathroom stainless steel sink. I have no idea what it was or how it got there. At this point no one does; not the dealer salesman, dealer service tech, or even the manufacturer.

In addition to this, the washing machine drum was lined with a black oily substance, similar to what I found in the sink, just not as thick.

Any idea what this stuff is, or if what was in the sink is the same as what I found in the washer?
