BoB Tiffin "Standup Guy"

I had the bad experience of retracting the driver side slide while the
seat was not clear and bent the driver seat, good lord now what. I
returned our new (3 week old) Open Road back to our dealer "Mike
Thompson's RV" in Fountain Valley CA only to find out 3 days later
their quote to repair is $2200.00 "WHAT?" So our extend warranty only
kicks in after the first year. So we decided to call BoB Tiffin in Red
Bay and I was quite surprised to get him on the phone. We explained
what happened and BoB Tiffin said he would send a new driver
seat to them at "no" cost to me. I can truly say BoB Tiffin is a
standup businessman we surly lucked out buying a Tiffin coach. I can
tell you our next upgrade will be another Tiffin,
so Thank You BoB Tiffin.

I can't recall ever hearing a negative comment about Mr. T and that's one reason a Tiffin MH was at the top of my Class A list. Too bad they don't make FWs.

First of all this should have never happen IF the coach had a safety switch that would not allow you to bring in the slide. My coach you have to press an electric switch to slide the seat all the way forward which trips a switch to allow you to bring in the big slide. Engineering is very important on the design of these coaches.

Bob Tiffin is a good business man, but this should never happen.

Have always heard good things about Mr. Tiffin. Since it seem's you bennifited 300.00 to 400.00 for a free chair you should get back with Bob and tell him to show your appreciation you'd like to make a 100.00 donation to his favorite charity.
Just a thought.

I agree that Bob took care of this quickly, but anyone who knows Mike Thompson RV, will know that they're a sleezy dealership. I think most RV dealers would have fixed the seat under a warranty claim, only Mike Thompson would try and charge. Knowing them, they would have charged you and then returned the seat as a warranty claim.

You didn't say, but did Mike Thompson charge you for the labor? If they did, I would call Bob back and let him know. I use to work near the Santa Fe Springs dealership and the few times I was in there, I felt like I needed a shower after talking to a salesman.

Bob Tiffin is a genius! Look at all the great press he got from a random act of kindness.

As it clearly was your fault for the damage, Mr. Tiffin went WAY above and beyond what would normally be expected. Bob Tiffin has done this a number of times, as reported here.

If I had the money, a Tiffin would be my choice. Hands down.

Good for you.

I had the pleasure, though under less than pleasurable conditions, to talk to Bob twice and he called back twice, had his assistant call me and he resolved the issues very quickly and well.

We are very happy to have our 36LA and the backing of Tiffin.

I was attending the Hershey RV show a few years ago and met Bob ... He was sitting in a motor home and we had a great conversation.. He and his wife stayed 4 sites down from us at the campground and he would be seen sitting at a neighbors campfire with them ,or at their picnic table chatting...just because... You just don't see that anymore ..
