Ah don't let Bill bother you, he is what he is! I already figured that out, and he pretty much hits all his threads the same way.
I totally agree with you. Taking low ball offers on CL just leads to wasting time. Those folks that offer sight unseen are usually just fishing. Sometimes those are automated scams - especially if they quote the title of your ad and ask if it is still available. Sometimes they are legit. I engaged in texts for a Morryde freezer tray I have listed. He low balled me and I just said I had just listed it and am not taking any non-seen offers for the first few weeks. Usually ends up with something snarky coming back (heck, that might have been Bill come to think of it). - J-RoosterExplorerI would think that $2,500.00 wouldn't even pay for the diesel engine if it's well maintained and in good working order!

- obgrahamExplorerHow the heck are you going to prevent him from "backing out"? Blockade his car?

It's not worth what you want. It's only worth what someone is willing to pay. Welcome to economics. You say $5000 (any maybe "the book" does as well) but that's not the actual value. The actual value is the value someone is willing to pay. No other "paper" value is worth the paper it is printed on.
He's a CL bs AGENT. HE'S MAKING HIS OFFER, I'M ACCEPTING. WHY WOULD HE BE ABLE TO BACK OUT WHEN HE SEES IT? HE"S ON THE PHONE NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT WANTING TO SEE IT!!!!! MY GOD!!!! Duuuuuuuhhhhhhh :) - Bill_SatelliteExplorer IIIt's not worth what you want. It's only worth what someone is willing to pay. Welcome to economics. - NaioExplorer IIMan, this forum is the worst I have ever been on for reading comprehension and people getting all upset over their misreadings.

I read it. I got it. Someone makes a low ball offer for an unknown product but wants the option to withdraw on the assumption the seller is a crook. Why would anyone NOT want the option of not buying when they find the product is not what it was advertised to be?
If I read this nonsense too many times it might actually appear to make some sense despite the fact that it does not!
Because he offered $3,000 for something that's $5,000 - Bill_SatelliteExplorer III read it. I got it. People listing on CL always do that. They put in a price of $1 or as was mentioned leave off a 0! I have called a few of those and asked if I could come take a look at it and told them I have the $1 or whatever the price was cash in hand. Most ask if I really thought they were going to sell for that price? I tell them "well there is an edit feature for the ad" they don't like that! Hey!!!!! You want to play he game be prepared for someone else to also!
I like the cl game where they call and offer a very low price without looking at my item. I told one guy sure I'll take that much for it but you are sure your buying it for that much right? He said well it depends on what it looks like when he gets here. I said NO if we agree on this price on the phone right now that's what you will pay. He changed his mind and didn't want to look. CL is free but that's the way it works. I use it all the time but you just have to know how it works.
I would change my mind as well! The person who made this decision made the right decision. Agree to a price without seeing the product being sold or lose the purchase? Yep, you can keep that POS and I will see what a real seller is interested in selling. You may use it all the time but it sounds like you are one of the sellers that gives Craig's List a very, very bad reputation.
You have missed the whole point. He is the one making the offer without SEEING it. He never even looked at it but makes a ridiculous low offer so I take him up on his offer but he now wants the option of not buying when he gets here to look at it? Read it a few times and maybe you will get it. It's gets more useless to post on here with dumb stuff like this. Read it 5 times. My god!!!
