I am planning a trip with a friend to Branson Mo. leaving Milford Ct on 9/14/13 and returning home on the 26th. He has a 36 ft Phaeton I have a 33 ft GBM. Was looking for an interesting route there and back and places to stop along the way. He and wife (mostly wife)usually camps in FHU site I prefer NF,Coe,State Parks especially when traveling. Looking for other things to see around Branson besides the shows. He still works but I am retired so can spend time on the returning home. Was thinking about Mammoth Caves on the way back. Was thinking about Rt 34 to 84,81,68,79,64,44 to Branson. Any suggestions on route, things to see along route and in Branson area would be much appreciated.

We try to make an annual trip to Branson. We have always stayed at Musicland campground. It is located right behind the Titantic. It allows us to walk along the strip. We have stayed their with out class C, our 5th wheel and will make a trip this year with the class A.

We always use Compton Ridge when in Branson. Lots of shady sites that makes you feel like you are in a state park but with FHU, 60 channels of cable and wifi. A lot to see in do in the Branson area beside shows. JMHO

Thanks for the suggestions. On the return trip I was thinking of Mammoth Caves in Ky. and also noticed Land between the lakes on the map has anyone been to these areas?

We stayed at ABC when we first checked out Branson. We were there for about a week and came back to it when we returned to take a second look. We purchased a lot and hired a contractor to build a cabin on a lot in an RV friendly 55+ community. That was ten yrs ago. I wouldn't stay there again due to it being too far out of town and a bit on the pricy side. If I were to do it again I'd stay at the www.bransonlakesidervpark.com/? or Turkey Creek Escapees CG in Hollister across Lake Taneycomo. There are 3 or 4 CGs along 76 that have good access to the 76 strip or if you want there are more out of town toward Silver Dollar City. There is a COE prk here somewhere but I've never seen it. There is a State Park at State Park Marina that is on table Rock Lake and has a variety of hookups available.

X 2..(If you go to Eureka Springs, there is a great rib place there, Bubba's BBQ).
Great idea.
Not mentioned is the School Of The Ozarks Museum, just south of Branson in Hollister. They even have the Beverly Hillbillies car. Silver Dollar City is a blast, also the Sheppard Of The Hills out door theater.
Don,, I spent 60 years in Missouri, 5 years on Oregon.

America's Best is a nice RV park for being close to Branson. It does have a section where the sites are not very level but otherwise it is a nice place.

There are so many things to do you'll be overwhelmed. A couple of things you shouldn't miss are Silver Dollar City, check their web site for happening while you are visiting, and Branson Landing/Old Town Branson. The new auto/farm equipment museum may be open by then too as a big attraction in the near future.
Ride the Ducks is a novel experience that takes you thru town out to Table Rock Lake for a float or down to Lake Taneycomo for a float. The vehicles are WWII era DUKWs Amphibious vehicles. The Branson Belle is a paddle wheel floating showboat that takes you onto Table Rock Lake and feeds you while entertaining you.

If you stay at the city owned CG on Lake Taneycomo there are rental boats at Scottys Trout dock and fishing floats on the Lake at the CG. The Lake is kept stocked with trout from the hatchery at Table Rock Dam.

The show boat dinner cruise is worthwhile on Table Rock Lake.

If you go to Eureka Springs, there is a great rib place there, Bubba's BBQ.

You can tour the dam below Table Rock Lake. Also close by is Silver Dollar City, a theme park. In Springfield is Bass Pro Shop's flagship store, the number one attraction in Missouri. Plenty of RV parking just south of the store. Once you get to Branson you will find lots to do besides the shows. Go into one of the many "Branson Information" buildings and look at the brochures.

Eureka Springs is interesting and not far from Branson. If you camp there, there are campgrounds that have trolley stops that will take you to the downtown area, which is much more convenient than driving and finding a parking place.
