RE: Buying a Rental Class C. How many of us out there? (Long)
Have you thought of the 27G instead of the 23 or 28A from Cruise America? Having rented a 28A first we are very pleased with the 27G and they often have a lot less mileage as they were not rented out so much (they did not do the 28A for a few years which was designed for a family and appear to have got it wrong as they stopped). It is slightly narrower about 1 foot and also only 29 ft long. Ideal for 2 people. We wanted a walk around bed hence the bigger size. The sink and toilet lay out is far better - toilet on the floor and you are not perched up in the air as the 28A and I think also the 23.Good size stowage locker also front right next to the door.
Added two solar panels and boondock for days no problem until the water runs low. Stowage space was very important for us as we live in Europe, so have to have everything with us all the time when in the US
We did not buy a awning either for it and have now decided that was a good move having seen people with problems in high winds and the sun in the "wrong place"
On the back we have a Rowdy SSR 150 scooter which has proven ideal for excursions when parked up, including climbing up mountains with 2 up, in the Chisos mountains at Big Bend.
Both the 28 and 27 have lots of spare stowage space below the front bed end and the top of the water tank. We have fitted a shoe cupboard there which works well.
You will find Cruise America not only have a plastic cover over the mattress, but we also found an inner plastic cover over the mattress! Both removed to stop sweating and Ikea bed slats fitted below for extra comfort:) Mattress found in perfect condition due to the covers.
Lots of room under the sink in the 27G as well as long as you remove the existing panels and redesign. we now have more storage and also a invertor fitted below with the solar controller there as well. You can also get weight forward by moving the air trunkings slightly under the seats to create space.
hope that helps and does not confuse with the extra model!
Thanks Cencerrita ! Yes, I have been looking into the 27G now that CA has more available, a month ago they barely had any. Forgive my newness/ignorance but what are the "air trunkings"? and I'm assuming you're talking about the dinette seats?
