Buying new RV.....what discount should I expect?

I am getting closer on bids, but still not where I want to be. Just today the pricing dropped 20K.........but think we can do better. We have 89,000 miles on our now, so we do use it. But, yes, I don't want to leave money on that table!...........Still dancing the dance!

Keep in mind that some folks buy a new Class A's with visions of the glorious travel memories to be made with a Motorhome. Then the poor RV languishes in a storage yard or back yard un-moved for many months or years!

If you could do some research and find one of these "Storage Queens", the current owner is the one who took the depreciation hit of nearly 40% or so you benefit from a good, solid, fairly new and extemely low mileage "cream puff"!

RV Trader and other used sites would be great places to start...private party sales sites. Google national "for sale by owner" sites to find out what the bottom price would be on the rig you want to buy. Best of luck!

Used-2012 $105,000 with 6200 miles! Another used (2010)with 15,000 miles for $8100.

You should be able to get 25-30% off.....but be willing to do a little traveling to get the best price. I started my process by probably talking with 10 or 12 Tiffin dealers from the West coast to the East coast. In the end I had three dealers that offered almost identical pricing on the unit I wanted. Two from Florida and 1 from Louisiana. Never leave money on the table.....it's too hard to come by.

All that has changed is how you do the shopping. In the old days we ran between dealerships. Last September we sent out a number of emails for bids based on our build sheet that we obtained from Tiffin. We knew the list price right up front. We took about five internet bids and then went to the two dealers that we had the most interest in doing business with. The one 60 miles from our home met the lowest bid and we just had it built at that point. It all took less then several weeks. Of course the build took about nine weeks. Good luck and have fun!!!!!

There is no hard and fast number. It depends on dealer, unit, and manufacturer. Check dealers all over. Check the majors for their best price (TX, FL, IL etc) I mean if you can save a couple grand over your local dealer get a one way plane ticket. Shop around anywhere in the US and present your numbers to your local dealer and let them know if they can't come close then you'll get on a plane. Pit dealers against one another. I do know that Winnie does not deep discount like some others. My guess is 25-28%% you are getting a good deal. You might get 30-35% from Thor, FR, etc but not from Winnie. Let dealers know you are getting best price from any and all dealers. Give me an hour and I would have best price from 10 places and 3 of them within a driving radius. I bought my last coach in 2 days over the phone. 5 numbers in a day and I picked which one. Of course Thor allows warranty support at any dealer including non Thor dealers. Not sure how picky Winnie is. That is a critical piece. You will need support. So a few grand saved via a long distance deal, could bite you if you get shunned by the local guys cuz you didn't buy it there. Gotta love the dance. Do your homework, know your number and present it. If they balk you walk. simple.

We ended up at 27% without a lot of trouble. Felt it was pretty good as it was when the new models were coming out. We had it built.

With todays internet you just pick your unit and have them bid on sale to you. State your purchase if it's cash or credit, cash always being KING.
