The advisory is to stay in which ever lane, since they both should merge at the lane closure for the greatest ease in time of all vehicles merging to fewer lanes. Old thinking used to be; get in the through lane, then drive-by all those unfortunate enough to be in the closed lane(s). It's all changed for the better. Just stay in your lane - no need to outmaneuver those in closed lanes, because the closed lanes are faster because of the rush to get into the looong line of vehicles in the through lane.;)
We have a CB in the coach and I don't hear many using it. It does come in handy if the freeway traffic comes to screeching halt. It helps to find out from the truckers which lane is best to be in since we are 65 ft. long and need a little room to merge.

Ours is always on because it is a weather alert monitor as we'll as CB. Keep the squelch up to where I only hear transmissions from the immediate area unless looking for traffic info.
