Class A gas w/toad help

most of the gassers of that vintage would be limited to a 5,000 lb hitch. a used Saturn VUE would be ideal as a toad but be sure it is new enough to be able to tow 4 down. my 2005 is.

All can pull a toad, it just depends upon how much the toad weighs...most gasser motorhomes can only pull 5000 lbs...some only 3500.

I tow the truck in my sig. with the coach in my sig, across the Continental Divide. It works. I haven't weighed anything.

First, figure out your budget and your needs. Function will then generate specifics about your choices. For example, do you need the toad to be 4x4? I ended up going with an older Suzuki Vitara which is 4x4 and only weighs a few thousand pounds. Most of the gassers are limited to 5,000 lbs towing. Once you get that figured out, the fun starts, such as baseplate, tow bar, braking system, etc.

Fleetwood makes some damned good gassers, Pace Arrows, Southwinds, and Flairs.

Jeep has always been the #1 choice of toad. Depending on how much room you need, 2 door wrangler. Liberty (we currently tow a 2010) and 4 door wrangler (EXPENSIVE, and may be too heavy)

I tow a 5000 lb toad with my rig (see signature). Works fine including going over the Rocky Mountains.

Just going to tell you my thinking when I bought used class a I went with lightest with biggest motor I could afford. I wanted one with 3500 lb hitch That way I had a better Idea how much first owner pulled with it. and least amount of miles. You can always install 5000 lb hitch.
there's welding shops that do that . That opened field up to what ever year . myself I didn't need slide out or automatic levelers. That right there shed some serious pounds . I ended up with 27 foot
454 with 4:88 rear end. I can pull what I want and because its 1992 with 750-16 tires there cheaper also . That was my class a buying in a nut shell I can do all what other class a motor homes do. with 1992 flare . found one with 40,000 miles well maintained very happy with it . I know your going newer. Its more about what you can find then what you want :) class a you can go big dog skys the limit. just dont forget maintenance cost and 10 MPG . far as toad goes I have tow master dolly. or I can setup 4 down with my tahoe . less money on motor home more on toys to go with it . Im just at the point Im going to put 5000lb hitch on mine. I will make sure its a super heavy hitch also . Paint wasn't even wear off the 3500lb hitch that was on it ya from 1992 . As a 34 footer just bit shorter wheel base (easyer to drive).

We now have a DP, but our last RV was a gasser - V10 Ford F53. The 5,000# hitch will get you a long ways with most toads, just not the full size trucks, etc. that some pull. I pulled a Tacoma Crew Cab on a car hauler with the gasser and didn't have any issues. With the car hauler, I was actually a little over the 5K rating but close. I now have a Wrangler Unlimited, weighs about 4,200# and I flat tow it - no issues. That should work great for what you're talking about. Just make sure to get a supplemental brake system for the toad - I use the Invisibrake and it works fantastic!

The chassis is what pulls the motorhome and the tow. The light weight chassis have a lower capacity. Ford F-53 chassis in the 24,000-26,000 lb. ratings are heavier and will tow up to 6,000 lbs. The late models have the V-10 with 362 HP and 457 ft.-lbs. torque.
