I was wondering if anyone knows how to recalibrate my compass that is mounted just under the front tv in my motorhome. It is a 2005 Fleetwood Pace Arrow 36B. It doesnโ€™t show the same direction as my gps. It appears to be out 10 or 15 degrees.

WA8YXM is completely wrong.

The magnetic north pole has never been on Ellsmere Island. FYI Ellesmere Is. is the large island that is next to Greenland's north west corner. Here is a map that shows the locatiob of the Magnetic North Pole over the past 100 years and more.

P.S. The geomagnetic pole is located on Ellsmere Island

Has a large metal part been replaced around the time it started deviating so much or has it been gradual?

A magnetic compass points toward in your case magnetic North.
Which at this time is in Ellesmere Island in Northern Canada
According to the internet font of all knowledge(Google)

The GPS uses TRUE North. that is the Real North Poll.

Depending on where in Canada you are the difference can be rather serious. Trust the GPS as to north (not necessarily as to route). Ignore the magnetic

Look on Wikipedia for magnetic deviation and magnetic declination. Depending on where you live in Canada, there may be nothing wrong with your compass. And if you travel much, it may not be worth trying to compensate for the declination effect. You would have to do it too frequently.

The normal way to calibrate a compass is to find a large parking lot where you can turn 360 degree circles. Do 5 to 7 360 degree circles and that should calibrate the compass. Doug

It is a factory installation with direction and temperature.

Is it a factory item? If you think it is you should ask here.

Any screws showing?

Picture of the display?

What other information does it provide?

Or, is it just a stand alone magnetic compass? If so, does it have compensating screws/magnets?

Donโ€™t believe it is interference and not sure of the brand or model.
